Win, Lose and Draw sums up this weekend's action for the Breakaway Fuels U12 Red Devils.
They started the weekend on Saturday at 1230 against the Barrie Colts on the Mackay pad. This was a fast paced game as expected when the top two teams in the OMHA East square off. The Red Devils would strike first when Kai Mackie put in a rebound off a Silas Templar point shot. Jackson Simpson would pick up the second assist. The Colts would score one in the second and one in the third and despite a flurry of action late, the young Devils could not find the equalizer and dropped the game 2-1. Jordan Andrews was stellar between the pipes in the loss.
Four hours later they were back on the ice again at the Mackay pad but this time against the York Simcoe Express. The devils were looking for a bounce back game after the earlier loss. They came out buzzing playing a majority of the first period in the Express' end but at the end of the ten minutes they were only up 1-0 with Mackie taking a feed from Ethan Dowling and putting it past the goalie. They would extend the lead in the second when Smith Pilon would snipe a short side shot on the power play with assists going to Jared Russell and Wade Robinson. Dowling would make good on a breakaway in the third and finish it with an empty netter late to give the Devils a 4-1 victory., Assists in the third went to Reid Haley, Kolton Solmes, Avery Thickson and Deacon Vos. Vos also stood tall in the net making some highlight reel saves during a late 6 on 3 penalty kill.
On Sunday the Breakaway Fuels Boys would have a rematch with the Colts in Campbellford. Once again this was a great hockey game with end to end action. The Colts would strike first just over a minute in when a tipped shot found its way by Vos in the net. Ryder Bradford would even the score midway through the period with assists going to Pilon and Robinson. Barrie would regain the lead in the second and would head to the third up 2-1. Evan VanEgmond would tie it 4 minutes in finsh a passing play from Kolton Solmes and Tripp Plumley. Charlie Dwyer would put the home team ahead with five minutes to play. Assist would go to Plumley and Jayden Stehlik. With the goalie out the Colts managed to sneak one in with a minute left to tie the game and this one ended 3-3.
