The Breakaway Fuels U12 Red Devils competed in the Bell Capital Cup to wrap up 2025 and then had two big league games to kick off 2026.
The young Devils headed to Ottawa on Dec 27th to compete in the Capital Cup tournament from Dec 28-30th. The boys rolled through the round robin portion posting scores of 9-1, 7-1, 4-1 and 6-0. They did not surrender an even strength goal through the four games. They had a quarter final match up against the Boston Americans. This was a tight game and the boys struggled to solve the Americans netminder. Through regulation and five minutes of 3 on 3 OT the score remained 0-0. The shootout was just as tight and went five players deep but unfortunately the Breakaway Boys ended up on the losing end and headed home earlier than anyone wanted.
After a few days of rest league play resumed with a game in Peterborough against the Petes on Saturday January 3rd. The Petes got an early goal and held a 1-0 leading heading to the third. Quinte exploded for 3 goals and then held on at the end for a 3-2 victory.
On Sunday the team hosted the Whitby Wildcats in Campbellford. This time Quinte would score an early one and take the 1-0 lead all the way to the third period. They would extend the lead to 2-0 four minutes into the third but Whitby would claw back with just 2:09 left to make it 2-1, After some tense moments an empty net goal with 17 seconds left would ice it and give the U12's two big league points.
On Deck: Host the North Shore Whitecaps on Sunday Jan 11th in Campbellford at 4pm
