The U12 Red Devils started their playoffs this weekend with a road game in Markham and a home game in Trenton.
On Saturday the young devils headed to Markham to play the Waxers. This one was scoreless through the first and the Devils found themselves trailing early in the second. The boys buckled down and scored two power play goals in the second to head to the third up 2-1. They continued their strong play in the third and scored two more in the first 1:45 of the final frame. With a 4-1 lead they committed to strong defence and held the Waxers at bay for the rest of the game and chipped in another late power play goal to end the game 5-1.
On Sunday they hosted the second place Barrie Colts at RCAF in Trenton. This was a tight checking affair from the drop of the puck. The Colts got a lucky bounce near the end of the first to go up 1-0 and despite several Grade A chances the Devils could not solve the Colts goalies and gave up a late empty netter to drop game 2 of the playoffs 2-0.
On Deck: The Devils play a weeknight game in Kingston on Thursday night before hosting the North Central Predators on Sunday in Campbellford.
