The HockeyStickMan U16 Red Devils travelled to Rama to take on the North Central Predators on Saturday afternoon for their only game action of the week.
Jax Martin got the Devils on the board in the first with a nice snipe set up by Lauchlan Whelan and Colton Dee. On the same shift Andrew Laurin tipped in a Dee shot to put the Devils up 2-0. Whelan picked up a helper on that play as well. The next shift saw more of the same as Trent Clow batted home a Coen Lowry feed to push the lead to 3. A feisty Predators squad would pot the next 2 goals to get themselves back into the game. Austin Ottenhof would restore a 2 goal lead finishing off a stretch pass from Clow, but the Preds would claw their way back to within a goal shortly thereafter. Laurin would ice things with his second of the game as he and Whelan took turns swatting at each other's rebounds. Nathan Ferriss was strong in net as the long trip home was made a little better with a 5-3 win.
The upcoming week sees a home and home series with the Whiby Wildcats on Thursday and Friday Night. Thursday the Devils play host with an 8:30pm puck drop on the Mackay Pad at the Wellness Centre and Friday we travel up the 401 for a 7pm start at Iroquois Park on Pad 1. Sunday also sees a road trip to Aurora to visit the York Simcoe Express. Game time is 5pm at the La Brier Family Arena on the campus of St Andrew's College.
