U16 Red Devils - Week of October 20
The HockeyStickMan U16 Red Devils had a busy week of league play with 3 games taking place.

Thursday got everything rolling with the home end of back-to-back contests with the Whitby Wildcats. After falling into an early 1-0 hole, QRD reeled of 4 straight goals to storm back into the lead. The first came off the stick of Austin Ottenhof on a great solo effort off his own draw. Jax Martin was next up tipping a Cooper Poskin point shot top shelf to give the Devils a lead they would never relinquish. Trent Clow picked up a helper on the play as well. After a nice faceoff win by Clow, Ottenhof added his second of the night to extend the lead for Quinte. Austin Preston fed Lauchlan Whelan behind the QRD net to get a power play breakout started and Whelan carried the puck most of the length of the ice before feeding Ottenhof who finished off his hat trick on the night. Whitby would get one back before Coen Lowry picked up a puck along the boards and dropped it back for guess who to pick up his fourth of the evening into an empty net.

Friday night saw a trip down the 401 for the back end of the home and home with the Wildcats. The game played out in a very similar fashion to the night before as Kallum Philips got the ball rolling picking up an errant clearing attempt along the wall and beating the Whitby netminder to put QRD up 1-0. Trent Clow was next on the scoresheet batting in a Jax Martin rebound to restore a 1 goal lead. Whitby would tie the game again before the Quinte offence kicked into overdrive. Lauchlan Whelan would put the Devils in front to stay after Andrew Laurin hit him with a cross ice pass and cleared a path to the net. Next up was Cooper Poskin knocking in his a Ewan Dahle rebound with Coen Lowry picking up a helper as well. Martin would feed Jack Sutton for a tap in to put the squad up 5-2. Martin slotted his only goal in what would end as a 4 point night taking an outlet pass from Andrew Dewar and firing it top shelf to make it a 6-3 lead. Austin Ottenhof rounded out the scoring taking a nice cross seam pass from Martin to make the final a 7-3 QRD win.

Sunday saw Hwy 404 added to the 401 adventures as the Devils travelled to St Andrew's College to take on the York Simcoe Express. Fans were treated to a back and forth tight checking affair as one would expect from two of the top teams in the OMHA East division. The Devils struck first off the stick of Lauchlan Whelan with help from Andrew Laurin. The Express would ring up the next two goals before Jax Martin would bang home a scrambled puck off a few York Simcoe defenders in front to tie the game. That tie would be broken in the third as Laurin potted a power play goal to put QRD in front 3-2. Whelan and Austin Preston assisted on that play. Despite some penalty trouble and furious pressure from the Express, the Devils would hold on for the win and finish up a 6 point weekend.

The upcoming week sees the end of the regular season trips north as we head to MASK arena to take on the North Central Predators on Saturday and then across to the Peggy Hill arena to take on the powerhouse Barie Colts team for the first time this year on Sunday. Saturday's puck drop is 5pm and Sunday's festivities get underway at 5:45pm with both games available to stream on LiveBarn and the Poskin Sport Network on YouTube.
