U16 Red Devils - Week of November 17
The Hockeystickman U16 Red Devils hosted a pair of games this weekend against top 5 opponents and gave the fans everything they could ask for.

Saturday saw the final game of the season series with York Simcoe. Quinte jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first with Lauchlan Whelan getting things going with a nice snipe set up by Andrew Laurin, and Ewan Dahle got in on the action as well burying one with help from Austin Ottenhof. The Express would get one back before the end of the first as the Devils took a 2-1 lead into the second frame. QRD took over in the second doubling their goal total. First up was the Whelan/Laurin connection on the power play with Ottenhof getting in on the action as well. Towards the end of the period Colton Dee ripped home a point shot with Jack Sutton picking up an assist in his return from injury and Ottenhof finishing off a three point day. Landen White shut the door on a furious YSE comeback as the Devils held on for a 4-3 win and a sweep of the season series with YSE.

Sunday saw a top 2 match-up as the squad hosted the Barrie Colts for the first time this year. Barrie opened the scoring in the first before Lauchlan Whelan continued his hot streak evening things up with some help from both Andrews, Dewar and Laurin. A high paced second period saw one goal each way again as Jax Martin knocked home a rebound in front of the net to put QRD up 2-1. Whelan and Lawson Minifie picked up assists on the play. Barrie would tie things up and the teams would start the third frame the same way the other two started, tied. The Devils jumped out to a 2 goal lead as Laurin buried a beauty feed from Whelan and Whelan struck again on the power play with help from Austin Ottenhof and Colton Dee. Unfortunately it would not be enough as Barrie stormed back to tie the game in the last 3 minutes and eventually win in OT as QRD gave up their first point of the regular season.

The upcoming week sees a pair of hosting duties again as the Markham Waxers and North Central Predators come to town. The first meeting of the year with the Waxers gets underway at 3:45 Saturday on the Mackay Pad and the QSWC and Sunday sees the team take on the Predators at the Sunny Life Centre in Campbellford. Puck drop for that one is at 12:30. Both games will be available for streaming on the Poskin Sports Network on YouTube.

Don't forget the team is still taking donations at both games for our Christmas Sharing baskets! Non-perishable food items and cash are both accepted at our home games and the team thanks you for your support in this worthy endeavour.
