The HockeyStickMan U16 Red Devils finished of their playoff run this week with a pair of games in preparation for the OMHA Championships.
Tuesday evening brought a trip down the 401 to finish off the home and home with the North Shore White Caps. Quinte's offence was in the spotlight all game long to the tune of an 8-1 win. Ewan Dahle led the way netting a pair and Lawson Minifie, Andrew Laurin, Austin Ottenhof, Andrew Dewar, Lauchlan Whelan and Trent Clow picking up singles. Assists went to Coen Lowry (2A), Clow (2A), Minifie (2A), Ottenhof, and Dahle. Landen White picked up the win in net.
Saturday saw the end of the playoff run with a home contest against the Kingston Jr Gaels. It was more of the same as the team skated to a 5-2 win. Lauchlan Whelan paced the attack potting a hat trick with singles coming from Lawson Minifie (1G, 1A) and Ewan Dahle (1G, 1A). Andrew Laurin and Andrew Dewar added a pair of assists each with Colton Dee, Jack Sutton, and Coen Lowry getting on the scoresheet as well. Nathan Ferriss picked up the win in net.
An impressive 7-1 playoff record combined with a strong regular season sees QRD enter the OMHA's as the #1 seed from the East. The action will kick off at the Miskin Law Centre in Peterborough Friday Mar 13 at 9am against the arch rival Ajax Pickering Raiders. Game 2 brings a 7pm battle with the Niagara North Stars. Round robin play wraps up on Saturday at 1:15 against the winner of the play-in game between the Hamilton Steel and Southern Tier Admirals.
