QRD Weekly Report - Monday Feb 14, 2022
Here is the weekly report for the week ending Feb 13 2022...

U9- Foley Bus Lines

The Foley Bus Lines QRD U9AAA Team were super excited to play their first full ice game, in front of a large home crowd in Marmora on Saturday. The Devils hit the ice flying, and put on a display of skill and teamwork as they skated to a 17-1 win over The Oshawa Generals. Kash Nelson had 3 goals and 5 assists in the game to lead the way for his team. Kade Whelan had 7 points in the game with 4 goals and 3 assists. Also lighting the lamp in the game; Jaxon Elrick (2), Evan Andrews (2), Graydon Tucker (2), William Beebe, Linden Ludolph, Ethan Dowling and Oliver Hodgins. Adding assists; Dowling (3), Beebe (2), Noah Gilchrist (2), Nathan Wain, Andrews, Ludolph, Tucker and Max Norton. Lily Groeneveld was fantastic in net and was named player of the game.

U15- Pita Pit

The Pita Pit U15 Quinte Red Devils took 4 of 6 points this past week with two wins against the Oshawa Generals.

On Wednesday, the Red Devils hit the road to play the Generals and came out on top with a 3-1 win. Liam Boyer protected the net and goals were scored by Dylan Murdoch, Ben Sherwin and Zack Carrier.

The Red Devils took another 2 points with a big 5-0 win for the rematch on Saturday.  Reece Herman had the shut-out and goals were scored by Mason Musclow, Zack Carrier, Ben Sherwin, Evan Erwin and Brody Nielissen.

On Sunday, the Quinte Red Devils were in tough when the York-Simcoe Express rolled into town and took the win 5-1.  Evan Erwin had our only goal and Reece Herman made some great saves.

 

On Deck: The Red Devils have another two home games next weekend. On Saturday, they play the Markham Waxers at 1:30 and on Sunday at 2:00, the Red Devils take on the Barrie Colts.

 

U10- Gillespie’s Tree Service

The Gillespie’s Tree Service QRD U10’s traveled to Whitby on Saturday to take on the Wildcats. Whitby got on the board early with a quick goal, however that lead was short lived. QRD would score six consecutive goals as they would hold on for the win. QRD’s captain Everett Brown led the offensive charge with a hat trick while goaltender Hayden Tripp played strong and helped the team earn the 6-3 victory.

After a victory on Saturday the QRD squad carried that momentum into Sunday’s game vs the Raiders. This was QRD’s first home game in the last month and the boys didn’t disappoint the home crowd. The overall play was tilted in the direction of Quinte however the Raiders goaltender stayed firm and made some great saves. QRD would eventually score the game winning goal with 5 minutes left in the 3rd period then seal the deal with an empty net goal a bit later. Hayden Tripp played great in net for QRD securing the teams second victory in as many days.

Coaches Corner with Head Coach Andrew Brown: 

“As a group we are starting to gain momentum heading into the most important time of the year. The coaches are very proud of how the kids have responded to the challenges coming out of the lockdown and really gaining confidence as players and as a team. We set our sights onto the last game of the regular season and will lead with work ethic and our team first mentality moving forward.”

U11- Borchert’s Roofing

The Borchert's Roofing QRD U11 AAA Team finished their regular season with a record of 19-1, after splitting their games this weekend.

On Saturday, The Red Devils hosted The York Simcoe Express in Marmora and got off to a good start, when Cameron Stevens scored from Oliver McCulloch, just 26 seconds into the game. Miller Nicholson and Noah Hughes each had pair of goals in the game, while Grady Riley and Jaxon Plummer each added singles. Assisting on the goals in the 7-2 win, was Mason Whalen (2), Nicholson (2), Stevens, Hughes, Edmund Dowling and James Gullage. Matt Travers was sharp in net for the win.

In their final game of the regular season, The Red Devils headed to Woodville to take on The Central Ontario Wolves. The Devils were handed their first loss of the season in a very hard fought 1-0 game. We would like to thank The Wolves for including us in their special day, as part of their super hero weekend, where they were raising money for sick kids hospital.

 

U13- E360 Solutions

The E360 Solution U13’s hosted the Kingston Jr. Gaels at their home barn in Madoc on Sunday.  With Charlie Vos in net, Wyatt Whalen led the team to a win by scoring four goals in two periods!  Assists went to Nate Rashotte, Chase Cybulskie x 2 and Ty Leavitt.  The U13’s take home two points with the 4-3 win.

 

Up Next- The E360 Solutions U13’s hit the road next week to face off against the Richmond Hill Coyotes in back to back action.

 

U12- Stampkrete Concrete Contracting

The Stampkrete QRD U12’s hosted the Ajax-Pickering Raiders this past Saturday at the Marmora Arena. Apparently, the long car ride didn’t bother the visiting team as Ajax-Pickering opened the scoring just 3 seconds into the game. QRD could never really recover, and lost the contest 3-2. Scoring for QRD was Joey Seguin (Kalum Phillips) and Maeve Aird (Brechyn Aird & Easton Thompson). Nathan Ferriss took the loss in net.

On Sunday, the Stampkrete QRD U12’s travelled to Markham to take on the Waxers for the first time this season. With a full lineup finally in tow, QRD would strike first and often in this affair. Lauchlan Whelan started the train rolling, as he potted the first 2 goals of the game, assisted by Dawson Chalk and Andrew Dewar. Not to be outdone, Brechyn Aird and Ewan Dahle would also score 2 each, with Hudson Brown adding the other QRD goal to give Quinte the 7-3 win. Assisting on the goals were Trent Clow, Thompson x2, Seguin, Coen Lowry, Dahle, and Ryder Hooey. Ryerson Swan & Nathan Ferriss split the win in net for QRD.

U16- Madison Excavating

The Madison Excavating Red Devils played two games this week adding two more wins to their undefeated season.

Saturday they played Oshawa at home defeating them 7-0. Goals scored by Braedyn Rogers, Reed Gee, Trey Cocek, Tomas Kuipers(2), Ethan Toms and Liam Philip! Assists by Ben Vreugdenhil, Beckett Ewart, Thomas Kuipers, Brody Partridge, Carson Campbell, Braedyn Rogers(3), Gage Butcher,  Jared Wooley, Ethan Toms and Liam Philip. Mike McIvor in net for the shutout.

 

Sunday the Devils took to the road defeating the Whitby Wildcats 10-2. Goals by Reed Gee(2), Ben Danford, Brody Partridge, Braedyn Rodgers, Ben Vreugdenhil(2), Nolan Donnelly, Beckett Ewart and Ethan Toms! Assists by Beckett Ewart(2), Gage Butcher, Reed Gee(2), Ethan Toms, Thomas Kuipers(2), Brody Partridge, Carson Campbell and Ben Danford. In net for the win Glen McInnes.

 

Looking ahead they are on the road for two games. Saturday they play the Central Ontario Wolves and Sunday the Kingston Jr Gaels.

 

U18- McInroy Maines Construction

The Quinte McInroy-Maines Construction U18 Red Devils picked up 3 of four points in two ETA league games this week.

On Wednesday, the U18s defeated the Oshawa Generals 3-1. Ethan Osborne, Bailey Pipe and Joey Coates scored for QRD while Spencer Horgan (3), Alex Delisle and Justin Murdoch picked up assists. Brayden Friedrich was rock solid in goal for Quinte. Devil of the Day was awarded to the whole team by the coaching staff.

On Friday, the U18s hit the road to Aurora to face the York Simcoe Express and returned home with one point in a 3-3 tie, giving up the tying goal with 47 seconds left. Tyson Carr, Jack Dever and Kellen Dostaler scored for QRD while Cooper Kellar (2), Justin Murdoch (2), Ethan Osborne and Bailey Pipe picked up assists. Friedrich was in goal for the tie. Devils of the Day were Osborne and Murdoch.

The U18s have been red hot, going 3-0-2 in their last five games and 12-2-6 in their last 20 games.

The Red Devils currently sit in second place heading in to the final week of league play with an overall league record of 17-4-6.

On Deck:  The U18s will host the Peterborough Petes at the CAA on Tuesday night and finish up their regular season play with two road games vs the Oshawa Generals on Thursday night and the Central Ontario Wolves on Saturday.

 

U14- Free Flow Petroleum

The U14 Free Flow Petroleum Devils took in a Dukes OJHL win in Wellington on Friday night and netted two important points on the road to playoffs on Sunday.

 

On Friday, the Devils visited the Lehigh Arena to cheer on the Wellington Dukes Jr. A Hockey Club and their coach Tyler Green, who was acting as Assistant Coach for the Dukes, in their win over the North York Rangers.

 

On Sunday, the Free Flow Petroleum U14s played their lone game of the week, as they hosted the Kingston Jr Gaels. With Katste Brant earning the shutout, the Devils won 4-0. Scoring for the U14s were: Graydon Walst (assisted by Kaden Koutroulides), Jack Foley (assisted by Noah Lesser), Jake Campbell (assisted by Lesser) and Liam Campbell (unassisted).

 

On deck: Next week's play has the Free Flow Petroleum Devils hosting the Richmond Hill Coyotes on Saturday at 4:00pm and the Ajax-Pickering Raiders on Sunday at 12:30pm, both games at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
