Borchert's Roofing U11's are OMHA Champions !!

 

U11- Borchert’s Roofing

The Borchert's Roofing QRD U11 AAA Team are OMHA Champions, after an outstanding team effort, going 5-0 in Oakville this past weekend.

The Devils got off to an fantastic start to the weekend, with a 13-1 win over Niagara North on Friday morning. Grady Riley, Brody Grant and Miller Nicholson each scored a pair of goals in the game. Austin Pettey, Rowyn Haley, Mason Whalen, Holden Goulah, Cameron Stevens, Noah Hughes and Shea Teather all added single goals in the win. Assisting on the goals; Hughes (3), Haley (2), Nicholson (2), Pettey (2), Edmund Dowling (2), Jaxson Plummer (2), Oliver McCulloch, James Gullage, Teather and Whalen. Matt Travers was sharp between the pipes for the win.

The Devil's carried their strong team play in to their second game of the day, skating to a 6-0 win over The Burlington Eagles on Friday afternoon. Lighting the lamp in this one, was; Riley, Haley, Stevens, Plummer, Whalen and Hughes. Assists; Grant (2), Stevens, Plummer, Pettey, Teather, Nicholson. Dax Sage was rock solid in net to grab the shutout.

On Saturday afternoon, The Red Devils would faceoff against their ETA rivals from Peterborough. The boys battled hard and skated away with a 3-1 win, to put them first overall after round robin play. Cameron Stevens was on fire in the game, scoring a hat trick for his team. Chipping in with helpers on the goals was Thomas Marsden, Teather, Riley and Grant. Travers was fantastic in net to get the win.

The stage was set for Championship Sunday, and the Red Devils would face the Oakville Rangers in the OMHA Semi Final game. After losing in OT to the Rangers earlier in the season, the Devils were fired up for a chance to play them again. In a fast paced, back and forth game, that had fans on the edge of their seats, this one too would need OT to be decided. This time Austin Pettey was the OT hero, when he blasted a wicked point shot past the Rangers goalie, to send his team to The OMHA Finals. Also scoring in the game was Stevens and Grant. Assists; Whalen (2), Nicholson. Matt Travers was lights out between the pipes for the win.

The Devils would face The Southern Tier Admirals in The OMHA Championship game. The boys came flying out of the gate, and Grady Riley opened the scoring with a power play goal, just over a minute into the game. The Devils didn't look back, and scored 4 more unanswered goals in the game, before the Admirals notched one of their own. Jaxson Plummer scored a hat trick in the game and Noah Hughes added the other goal. Assists; Grant (3), Nicholson, Pettey, Hughes. Dax Sage was fantastic in net for the win. The Devils skated to a 5-1 victory and were rewarded with the coveted Red Hats at the buzzer.


 

U14 Free Flow Petroleum

The Free Flow Petroleum U14 Quinte Red Devils started the weekend strong, dominating play on the road against the Ajax Pickering Raiders. Katste Brant with the shutout in Saturday’s 6-0 victory. Points from: Liam Campbell (1 goal, 1 assist), Jack Foley (1 goal, 1 assist), Jacob Moore (1 goal, 1 assist), Graydon Walst (1 goal, 1 assist), Jake Campbell (1 goal), Noah Lesser (1 goal), Kaden Koutroulides (2 assists), Kolby Craig (2 assists), and Ryan Babbs (1 assist).

 

Sunday at home, the Red Devils came up short losing 6-3 to the Kingston Jr. Gaels. Points this game from: Lesser (1 goal, 1 assist), Moore (1 goal), Craig (1 goal), L. Campbell (2 assists), Foley (1 assist), Rhett Colson (1 assist), Babbs (1 assist). Katste Brant took the loss in net.

 

On deck: The Free Flow Petroleum Devils play a tie-breaking game against the Jr. Gaels in Kingston on Tuesday for a spot at the OMHAs.

 

U16 Madison Excavating

The Madison Excavating U16 Quinte Red Devils took to the road to take part in the OMHA tournament in Oakville this past weekend.

 

They came out hard Saturday playing two games handily taking out their competition.  In game 1 they took on the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs bringing home a 7-1 victory! Goals scored by Etgan Toms(2), Nolan Donnelly, Brody Partridge(2) and Liam Philip. Assists by Liam Philip, Beckett Ewart, Ben Vreugdenhil, Ben Danford(2), and Ethan Toms(2). In net for the win Mike McIvor.

 

Game 2 was a 9-1 win verses the Burlington Eagles! Goals by Nolan Donnelly, Beckett Ewart, Trey Cocek, Liam Philip(2), Ethan Toms, Thomas Kuipers, Gage Butcher and Ben Vreugdenhil! Assists by Gage Butcher, Liam Philip, Trey Cocek, Nolan Donnelly, Carson Campbell, Brody Partridge(2), Ben Vreugdenhil, Ethan Toms(2) and Reed Gee! Glen McInnes taking the win in Net.

 

Game 3 Saturday was a rematch with their rivals the Markham Waxers . The Devils took that game 4-2 with an empty net.  Goals scored by Liam Philip(2), Ethan Toms and Carson Campbell! Assists by Braedyn Rogers and Reed Gee! Mike McIvor in net for the win!

Sunday morning the Devils played the Niagara North Stars in the semi final ending in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss in double overtime ending their bid for the red hats. The boys came out strong but were defeated by Niagara's netminder. Goals scored by Liam Philip, Nolan Donnelly and Brody Partridge. Assists by Ethan Toms, Beckett Ewart(2) and Ben Vreugdenhill.  In net for the loss Mike Mcivor.

 

Game 5 was a rematch with the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs which was played for seeding in the upcoming OHL Cup.  This was a tough one for the boys. Gage Butcher scored 2 in the third to bring it into overtime, but the boys were unable to bring home the win.  Goals scored by Ethan Toms, Thomas Kuipers and Gage Butcher(2).  Assists by Gage Butcher, Thomas Kuipers(2), Ethan Toms, Brody Partridge and Jared Woolley. Suffering the loss in net was Glen McInnes.

 

Coming up this week this great group of young men will be traveling to Toronto for the OHL Cup at the Scotia Bank arena. Go Quinte! 

 

U15- Pita Pit

Although the The U15 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils run to the OMHA Finals is over, the boys should be proud of their final three games to finish the season.  hey had some hard fought battles this week against the Whitby Wildcats, Ajax-Pickering Raiders and the Barrie Colts.

On Wednesday, they hit the road and beat the Whitby Wildcats 3-2 with Reece Herman in net and goals from Zack Carrier, Parker Ferguson and Brody Nielissen.

On Thursday, the Red Devils hosted the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. Liam Boyer protected the net and with two goals from Sunny Fanjoy, the boys held on to the tie through 10 minutes of overtime play.

On Saturday, the U15 Red Devils held the Barrie Colts to a 2-2 game through regulation time with Reece Herman playing in the net and goals from Ben Sherwin and Evan Erwin. After eight and a half minutes of overtime play, the Red Devils pulled their goalie in hopes of a win but came up short when the Colts scored an empty netter ending the season for the Red Devils.

It was a great season and an even better playoff run! Good luck to all the teams advancing to the OMHA finals next weekend in Oakville!

 

U10- Gillespie’s Tree Service

The Gillespie’s Tree Service QRD U10’s traveled to Oakville this weekend to compete in their first ever OMHA Championship. Although the squad finished with a 0-2-1 tournament record it was a great experience to be a part of the final weekend.

Overall it was a very exciting weekend for the team. To achieve a trip to the OMHA Championships in their first season together was a great success. As the season comes to an end they would like to thank all the people who made this season possible.

U12- Stampkrete Concrete Contracting

On Thursday March 24th the Stampkrete QRD U12’s hosted the Whitby Wildcats at the Baltimore Recreation Centre. It was a tightly fought affair, with both teams trading scoring opportunities. Whitby took the lead in the second period, before Lauchlan Whelan tied the game, taking a nice pass from Brechyn Aird. Regulation solved nothing, but Whitby would score the overtime winner taking the game 2-1. Ryerson Swan took the loss in net for QRD.

On Saturday March 26th the Stampkrete QRD U12’s travelled to Kingston to take on the Jr. Gaels. After somewhat of a sluggish start, QRD found their stride getting goals from 5 different skaters. Dawson Chalk, Joey Seguin, Ewan Dahle, Hudson Brown and Lauchlan Whelan would score for Quinte, with Drew Wright, Whelan, Brechyn Aird, Trent Clow, and Ryder Hooey drawing assists. Nathan Ferriss would make several key saves securing the 5-1 QRD victory.

The stage was set for an epic battle on Sunday vs. the Whitby Wildcats. Quinte needed a win to punch their ticket to the OMHA’s in Oakville. The Stampkrete QRD U12’s saved would could be argued as “their best team game of the year” as they totally controlled the game from the opening faceoff to the final buzzer. Joey Seguin would open the scoring for QRD, converting a nice pass off of a cycle down low from Ewan Dahle and Easton Thompson. Trent Clow would then add to the QRD lead with an unassisted marker to put Quinte ahead 2-0. Easton Thompson would further add to the lead with a nice pass from Seguin, before sealing the deal with his second of the game to give QRD the 4-0 win. Ryerson Swan got the win in net for QRD, stopping a penalty shot late in the 3rd to suffocate any chance of a Whitby comeback.

U18- McInroy Maines Construction

The Quinte McInroy Maines Construction U18 Red Devils saw their season come to a sudden end with a 2-1 loss to the Clarington Toros in an OMHA Championship Weekend play-in game last Tuesday. 

Despite dominating the play, QRD could not find the equalizer to force overtime late in the game. 

Liam Reid scored the only goal for the U18s. 

Brady Spry took the loss between the pipes.
