Bonn Law U12's and Gillespie Tree Service U13's are heading to the OMHA Championships...
The Madison Excavating QRD U11s had a fabulous weekend of solid team play, as they travelled to Oakville and competed in their final tournament of the 2022-2023 season.
The QRD U11s finished with a 2-0-1 record after round robin play. The boys worked hard to make it to semifinals, but they were unfortunately defeated by the Niagara North Stars. The game was extremely close; the Devils displayed grit, resilience, and determination. They should be incredibly proud of making it to the final four.
The Madison Excavating QRD U11s started the weekend off with a tie against the Barrie Jr. Colts - the eventual OMHA champions, for the second year in a row. QRD opened up the scoring in the first period, when Kade Osterhout found the back of the net. The score remained 1-0 through two periods of play. Both teams battled hard and there were countless shots on both nets. Early in the third period, Barrie tied the game at one, and despite efforts from both teams, the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Hayden Tripp worked hard to defend Quinte’s net. Player of the Game went to Robbie Robinson for his solid contributions and strategic play.
Early Friday evening, QRD would take on the Burlington Eagles. Regardless of having already played an intense game that morning, QRD was ready to bring their best. QRD got off to an early lead, with a goal from Everett Brown, six minutes and twenty-seven seconds into the first. Kade Osterhout would follow that goal up with one of his own, three minutes later. Going into the second period, QRD was already up by two, and they would continue to dominate. Under two minutes into the second, Osterhout lit the lamp for a second time. With eight minutes and fifty-six seconds left in the period, Blake Milne scored the game-winning goal. QRD began period three with a four-goal lead. Just over a minute in, Hewett Tejnor extended the lead to five, followed up by another from Blake Sills, just over a minute later. QRD was on a streak, scoring six unanswered goals. Brown made it 7-0 before the Eagles got their first goal, on the power play. Osterhout responded two minutes later, when he scored his third goal of the game. With two minutes and seven seconds left to go, the Eagles briefly rallied, scoring two more powerplay goals in quick succession. QRD, however, took the win 8-3 win after an exciting, action-packed game. Between the pipes, Hayden Tripp helped to secure the win, and was awarded Player of the Game for his efforts.
Late Saturday afternoon, QRD would go head-to-head with the Halton Hurricanes. It was about six and a half minutes into the first, when Everett Brown opened up the scoring with the first goal of the game. Half a minute into the next frame, Kade Whelan found the back of the net, bringing QRD’s lead to two. Cooper Plumley extended the lead to 3-0, with the eventual game-winner, prior to the end of the second period. The Hurricanes tried to even things out in the third period, scoring their only two goals of the game within the first three minutes. The comeback was short-lived, as Dylan Chalk scored twice after that, bringing the final score to 5-2 for the Devils. Goaltender, Hayden Tripp, made some timely saves and worked hard to keep the Devils on top. Player of the Game went to Dylan Chalk for his outstanding team play and effort.
With two wins and one tie, the Madison Excavating QRD U11s had officially qualified for the semi-final game as the number one seed in group one.
On Sunday morning, the QRD crew would face the Niagara North Stars, in a battle for one of two spots in the final game of the OMHA tournament. The Devils gave the game their all; they worked amazingly well as a team, and they came very close to a win. The North Stars got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period, when they capitalized on a couple of lucky bounces. QRD battled back in the second, as Everett Brown scored, twenty-five seconds in, cutting Niagara’s lead in half. The score would remain at 2-1 for Niagara, going into the third. Under three minutes in, Niagara would score their third goal of the game. QRD’s Kade Whelan responded to the goal with one of his own, fifty-three seconds later. With just over eleven minutes left until the final buzzer, QRD battled hard, however, they were not able to capitalize on their chances. The final score was 3-2 for the Niagara North Stars, who gave QRD their only loss of the weekend. In net, Hayden Tripp earned Player of the Game for keeping the score close.
Despite not moving on to the OMHA final game, QRD played exceptionally well, and should be extremely proud of being one of four teams to play on Sunday. Over the course of the OMHA tournament, QRD netted seventeen goals by eight different players, and only allowed eight goals against. Moreover, the team went further in the OMHAs than they did last season, proving that they have had a truly successful year, filled with a remarkable development of their skills and strategies. Special thanks to Ryder Hayes for supporting the team this weekend, while goalie, Ben Larmer, was recovering from a concussion. Excellent job, everyone!

U14s Punch Ticket to OMHAs
The Quinte U14 E360 Solutions Red Devils picked up back to back shutouts in ETA playdowns this weekend, and clinched a spot in the OMHA Championships in Oakville March 31-April 2.
On Saturday, the Red Devils got shutout goaltending from Lily Reid and 3 points from Nate Rashotte in a 6-0 win over RHC.
Devils of the Day were Lily Reid and Issac Tracze.
On Sunday, Charlie Vos led the way with shutout goaltending while Henry Fisher and Chase Cybulskie handled the scoring as QRD defeated NCP 2-0.

The U14s finish the playdowns with 6 wins in 6 games, posting three shutouts and outscoring the opposition 22-4.

Gillespie's Tree Service U13s Finish Up the Playoff Round Robin With A Bang!!
The Gillespie's Tree Service U13 Quinte Red Devils finished up round robin play this past weekend, starting off with a Saturday matchup against the Richmond Hill Coyotes. Quinte was dominant from start to finish winning by a final score of 11-2. Goals were supplied from: Jax Martin (Andrew Dewar, Lauchlan Whelan), Lauchlan Whelan (Brechyn Aird, Andrew Laurin), Trent Clow (Unassisted), Lauchlan Whelan (Spencer Harold, Ryder Hooey), Trent Clow (Coen Lowry, Lauchlan Whelan), Ewan Dahle (Joey Seguin, Maeve Aird), Coen Lowry (Mauve Aird, Trent Clow), Joey Seguin (Spencer Harold, Trent Clow), Jax Martin (Lauchlan Whelan, Maeve Aird), Trent Clow (Andrew Laurin, Ewan Dahle), Joey Seguin (Ewan Dahle, Easton Thompson)
Ryerson Swan picked up the decisive win in net.
The Devils ended the round robin with a tough matchup against the Barrie Colts. The Red Devils would get off to a quick start going up 1-0 with the goal scored by Joey Seguin (Trent Clow) but Barrie would retaliate with three goals of their own to go up 3-1 after the first period. The Colts would add to the lead to make it 4-1 but Quinte pushed back and made it a one goal game with goals by Trent Clow (Unassisted) and Lauchlan Whelan (Andrew Laurin). Quinte would then trail 5-3 after two. The Red Devils never backed down as they would pot a quick goal to start the third by Andrew Laurin (Lauchlan Whelan), the U13s used that momentum to knot the game at 5 a piece with the goal coming from Easton Thompson (Jax Martin) but they were not done there. Andrew Laurin would break the tie with his second goal of the contest with an assist from Ewan Dahle. Coen Lowry would add an insurance goal late in the period to seal the deal for the Red Devils making it 7-5, assists from Lauchlan Whelan and Spencer Harold.
Nathan Ferriss would get the win between the pipes for this battle.

The Bonn Law QRD U12 Team are headed to The OMHA Championships in Oakville, as the #1 seed from The ETA after earning two more wins in the playoffs this past weekend.
On Saturday, The Devils hosted The Clarington Toros to a game in Baltimore and skated to a 5-1 win. Lighting the lamp in the game was Noah Hughes, Brody Grant, Holden Goulah, Cameron Stevens and Zachary Miedema. Assists went to Nicholson (2), Pettey (2), Grant, Gullage, Stevens, Teather. Dax Sage was between the pipes for the win, and Brody Grant was named player of the game.
On Sunday, The Red Devils hosted the Central Ontario Wolves, and were looking for one more win in order to earn the #1 seed from The ETA. The Red Devils came out flying and played a strong team game on their way to a 5-1 win and an 8-0 record in the playoffs. Shea Teather had a pair of goals in the game, while James Gullage, Noah Hughes and Cameron Stevens all added singles. Assisting on the goals was; Pettey (2), Goulah (2), Grant, Gullage, Nicholson. Matt Travers picked up the win between the pipes. Shea Teather and Cam Stevens shared player of the game honors.

The Foley Bus Lines U10 Red Devils Are OMHA Championships Semi-Finalists
Friday morning in their first game of the Championships they took on their league rivals, the Peterborough Petes. Quinte would skate to a 7-2 win. Ethan Dowling led the way in the goal department scoring 5 times. Other Red Devil Goals were scored by Ryker Thompson and Graydon Tucker. Picking up assists were Malkin Courtney (2), Kash Nelson (2), Noah Gilchrist (2), Will Beebe (2), Jaxon Elrick (2) and Sebastien Smit. Ethan Dowling was named game MVP and Blake Laurin picked up the win in net.
Friday night they would take on the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs. Quinte came out on top 5-2.
Quinte goals were scored by Kash Nelson (2), Max Norton, Ethan Dowling and Noah Gilchrist.
Red Devil assists went to Gilchrist, Nelson, Ryker Thompson and Evan Andrews. Kash Nelson was named game MVP and Blake Laurin picked up the win in net.
Saturday afternoon they took on the Credit River Capitals. Quinte won by a score of 6-2.
Quinte goals were scored by Will Beebe (2), Evan Andrews (2), Ethan Dowling and Noah Gilchrist. Picking up assists were Gilchrist (2), Kash Nelson (2), Max Norton (2), Beebe, Matt Dawson and Ethan Dowling. Will Beebe was named game MVP and Lily Groeneveld picked up the win in net.
After going 3-0 in round robin play that would punch their ticket into Sunday’s semi final where they would take on another league rival in the Whitby Wildcats. Quinte would find themselves up 3-0 after the first period. Whitby would come out flying in the second period scoring five unanswered goals. Quinte would manage to score one in the second period, making the score after two periods 5-4 for Whitby. The teams traded goals in the third, making the final 6-5 for Whitby. Quinte goals were scored by Kash Nelson (2), Ethan Dowling, Noah Gilchrist and Will Beebe. Picking up assists were Beebe (2), Dowling (2), Nelson, Gilchrist, Evan Andrews, Matt Dawson and Malkin Courtney. Will Beebe was named game MVP.
Whitby would go on to win the OMHA Championships 2-1 over the Burlington Eagles in double overtime.
