This past Saturday, the Madison Excavating U12 Quinte Red Devils found themselves in Peterborough amidst an intense matchup with the Peterborough Petes. The action unfolded with the Petes capitalizing on a powerplay opportunity just five minutes into the game, taking an early lead. The second period was a defensive standoff; both teams played hard, and the scoreboard remained unchanged. Tensions mounted into the third period, and the Devils came roaring back. Just two minutes into the final frame, QRD netted a crucial goal, evening the score at one apiece. QRD pressured hard during the final frame, however, the team was unable to get the go-ahead goal, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

On home ice in Belleville on Sunday, the Quinte Red Devils faced off against the Markham Waxers. In the tightly fought battle, the lone goal of the game proved to be the deciding factor. The Devils found the back of the net late in the first period, setting the tone for the match. Despite the fierce competition and efforts from both teams, the remainder of the game saw no further goals. The Devils emerged victorious, with a 1-0 win, their earlier goal proving to be the game-winner.

Coach’s Corner with Head Coach, Evan Osterhout: “The flu bug inevitably caught up to some of the players this week. The team managed to fight through it together, showing resilience and fearlessness, and ultimately gaining three out of a possible four points.”
