The
Bonn Law Minor Bantams, along with 15 other teams from across Ontario and parts
of the US, competed at the Shanahan International Tournament in Toronto this
past weekend. The Red Devils earned a spot in the semi finals of the tournament, but had to settle with the Bronze medal after a tough 5-1 loss to the Mississauga Reps who went on to win the tournament.
The team battled through injuries and suspensions throughout the weekend to secure a 5th place seed after the round robin play posting a 3-1 record. The boys defeated Victory Honda from Michigan 4-3 in OT in the opening game of the tournament before dropping their second game to the Mississauga Reps 6-2. Day two proved to be a test of endurance and character as the boys secured 4 points with wins against the PAL Jr Islanders from New York (3-1) and London Jr Knights (4-2). In the quarter finals on Sunday morning, the boys dug deep and pulled off a 4-1 win against the Anaheim Jr Ducks to secure the spot in the Semi finals.
The Minor Bantams return to league play this coming weekend with games vs. Ajax Pickering Raiders and Richmond Hill Coyotes.
