The Bonn Law QRD U13 Team went 7-0 this weekend on their way to becoming Champions at The Hamilton Steel Hockey Classic.
The Red Devils opened the tournament against The Waterloo Wolves. Strong teamwork and solid goaltending, earned the team a 3-0 win. The boys continued their strong play and skated to a 5-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons in their second game of the day.
On Saturday, The Red Devils shutout the North Bay Trappers by a score of 7-0, before scoring seven more goals on their way to a 7-1 win over the Kingston Jr. Gaels.
In the quarter final game Saturday evening, The Devils would face off against The Mississauga Rebels. Once again, the boys displayed a strong work ethic and fantastic team play, on their way to a 6-2 win.
On Sunday morning, the Red Devils arrived at the rink, ready to take on the home team Hamilton Steel in the Semi finals. The Devils came out flying in this one, and scored six goals on their way to a 6-1 win and a spot in the Championship game.
The Championship game turned out to be a very competitive, back and forth game vs Ottawa Myers Automotive. The two teams were tied at the end of regulation, and the game would go to 4 on 4 OT. The two teams kept the fans on the edge of their seats, as they exchanged chances, but the game remained tied, and would go to 3 on 3 OT next. Just two minutes into the second overtime period, the Red Devils found the back of the net and the boys came flying off the bench to celebrate their tournament championship game victory!
On Deck: The Bonn Law QRD U13 Team will host The North Central Predators on Saturday @ 1:30 in Marmora and Sunday @ 1:30 CAA Arena, Belleville.
