The Quinte E-360 Solutions Red Devils had a slow start to the season, tying the Kingston Junior Gaels 1-1 and dropping a 4-3 OT decision to the Peterborough Petes.
In the tie against Kingston, the Red Devils dominated for long stretches of play but simply could not capitalize on numerous scoring chances, including 5 breakaways. Cole Rowat scored the only goal for QRD, while Henry Fisher and Wyatt Whalen picked up assists. Lily Reid grabbed the point in goal for the Red Devils. Devils of the Day were Ty Leavitt and Nate Rashotte.
In the OT loss to the Petes, several mistakes saw QRD blow a lead with one minute remaining as the Devils left Peterborough with a single point for their efforts. Isaac Tracze (2) and Mac Chisholm scored for QRD while Nate Rashotte, Blake Munnings, Chase Cybulskie, Jake Gawley, Henry Fisher and Wyatt Whalen picked up assists. Charlie Vos picked up the point in goal. Devils of the Day were Chase Cybulskie and Cole Coughlin.
The coaching staff praised the play of Cole Rowat, Wyatt Whalen, Chase Cybulskie, Jake Gawley and Seth Scaletta over the first two games.
The Red Devils look to get hot this weekend as they host NCP on Saturday at 6pm (Mackay) and Sunday at 1:30 (CAA) at the QSWC.
