The Major Bantams
travelled to Potsdam, NY on the weekend to compete in the Clarkson Varsity Cup
tournament.
Game 1 - Quinte 4 Syracuse Nats 0
Game 2 - Quinte 2 Eastern Ontario Wild 5
Game 3 - Quinte 5 College de Levis 3
Game 4 - Quinte 6 Ottawa Valley Titans 2
With a 3 & 1 record in round robin play the Devils moved onto face the Kingston Frontenacs in the Semi-Finals on Sunday morning. Quinte would find the back of the net first but Kingston would answer right back with one of their own. After 1 period of play the score was tied a 1 goal each. In the second period your Devils would score first to take a 2-1 lead. Again Kingston would answer back and tie the game at 2 goals each. The third period was held scoreless and at the end of regulation the game was tied 2-2. The Devils would start the sudden death overtime period on a power play. Just 1 minute into OT your Devils would score taking a 3-2 win and advance to the Finals.
With only a short time to rest the Red Devils would play the Eastern Ontario Wild two hours later. Both of these teams are ranked in the top 5 of my hockey rankings so a fast pace and highly skilled game was anticipated.
You wouldn’t know that both teams were playing their 6th game in 3 days. The game started and ended strong. The first period was back and forth with both teams having their chances to score but the period would end scoreless. In the second period the Devils would score first to take the lead but the Wild would respond a minute later with one their own and the second period would end tied at 1 goal each. The Wild would score at the 3:30 mark in the third period to take the lead and unfortunately the Devils could not answer back. The Wild would score an empty net goal and win the game 3–1.
Next action is this Saturday against the Oshawa Generals @ 3:45pm at the QSWC (FDC Pad).
