Devils Brave the Weather to Lock Down ETA Division Title
Heading the into the second
last weekend of ETA league play, the Devils were staring into the eye of a
major storm and a pair of road games. With a packed slate of league games in
the final week of the schedule and exam week coming up for the boys, the team
made the decision to get ahead of the storm and get their weekend games behind
them.
First up was a Saturday morning drive to Richmond Hill and thankfully an early hotel check in so the boys were rested and ready to take on the Coyotes at 4pm. With their only other visit this year to the Coyote den being a loss, the Devils wanted to get on the board early which they did with two in the first and adding one more in the second to take a three goal lead to the flood. Both teams traded goals in the third before the QRD’s closed this one out with a 4-1 victory therefore clinching first place in the 2019-20 ETA Minor Midget regular season standings. Sunday morning everyone woke up to a sunny sky, a fresh blanket of snow and short drive back to Oshawa to finish off the weekend versus the Generals. In this one, the lead changed hands a couple times before the Devils managed to kill off a late third period five on three to scrape out a 3-3 tie and a three point weekend in the standings. Next action……The Devils look to avenge a couple poor outings versus the Markham Waxers as they host the Waxers at the QSWC Mackay pad this Saturday (3:30pm) to close out the regular season schedule.
