The Madison Excavating Minor Bantams took to the road this past weekend to participate in the Wendy Dufton Tournament in London. .


The Devils started the tournament Friday with a match up against the North Bay Trappers. Landon Wright opened up the scoring in the first on the set up from Jared Langdon and Ben Danford. The Trappers would answer back in the second to tie the game. The third would ended scoreless and the game would settle in a 1-1 tie. Mike McIvor was in net for the game. Game two was a showdown against the home town London Jr. Knights. In a back and forth game, the first and last periods were scoreless. The Knights snuck a goal in the second but the Devils were unable to find the scoreboard. Glen McInnes was in net for the 1-0 loss. Saturday was a turn around day for the Devils as they took two wins. Game 3 of the tournament was against the North York Rangers. While the Rangers struck first, it was the Devils who controlled the rest of the game. Beckett Ewart scored on the set up from Liam Storms and Wright. Langdon would score the game winner assisted by Danford. McIvor was in net for the 2-1 win. Game 4 had Quinte face a familiar western team when they took on the Grey Bruce Highlanders. Braedyn Rogers scored the first, assisted by Ben Vreugdenhil and Danford. The Highlanders answered back quickly to tie it up. Two unassisted goals from Nolan Donnelly and Langdon in the second gave the Devils the lead going into the third. Donnelly would add another in the last on the set up from Gage Butcher and Thomas Kuipers to make it a 4-1 final. McInnes was between the pipes for the win. The Devils sealed the number one seed in their pool and a spot in the Sunday morning quarter finals against the Vaughan Kings. The game was a back and forth battle with all the scoring of the game happening in the second. The Kings would take a 2-0 lead but Quinte would tie it at 2-2 before the end of the second. Scoring for the Devils were Donnelly and Butcher assisted by Kuipers and Danford. The game would be forced into OT after a scoreless third. With 3 minutes left in the extra set, it was Vaughan that got the lucky bounce to steal the game. McIvor played a strong game in the net. The Madison Excavating Minor Bantams are back in action this week as they head to Markham to take on the Waxers on Saturday and will host the Clarington Toros on Sunday at RCAF arena.
