The McInroy Maines U18 Quinte Red Devils started the new year games with a road game at St. Andrew's College to face the York Simcoe Express.
Finishing up the holidays with a road trip to Aurora to face the York Simcoe Express did not end well for the Devils as they succumbed to their first loss of the season. The first period was a scoreless one with a back and forth game. YSE hit first in the second but the Devils responded quickly to end the period 2-2 tie. Scoring in the second was Connor Weido and Deke Osterhout, assisted by Evan Erwin and Brody Nielissen. The Devils took the lead early in the first with a shot from Liam Phillip, on the set up from Deacon Ellis and Sam Thompson. Unfortunately late in the third YSE scored two quick late goals to make it a 3-4 game loss for the Devils. Ryan Jacobs was in net for the loss.
