QRD Weekly Report – Monday September 25, 2017

Foley Bus Lines - Minor Bantams
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Bantams started their ETA season last weekend on the road against the North Central Predators and the Barrie Colts. 

On Saturday Sept. 16, the Bus Liners faced the Predators in Orillia.  Both teams skated to a scoreless first period before Corbin Roach opened the scoring in the second period on feeds from Noah Richard and Dalyn Wakely.  The Devils would add two more in the second period as Cooper Matthews and Liam Filip would find the back of the Preds net.  Assisting on the goals were Kellen Dostaler, Donovan McCoy, Corbin Roach and Noah Richard.  The Preds would add one of their own to make the score 3-1 after two periods.  The Devils continued their scoring into the third as Noah Richard, Dalyn Wakely and Conner Hunt lit the lamp.  Assisting on the Devils goals in the third was; Corbin Roach with two, Dalyn Wakely and Parker Stewart. The Predators would add another goal in the third, but it wasn’t enough as the Devils take the victory with a 6-2 score. Braydon Spry was solid in the Devils net.

On Sunday Sept. 17, the Foley Bus Liners entered Barrie to take on the Colts at the Holly Rec Centre.   It was all Devils in this game as they found the Colts net 3 times in the first period.  Lighting the lamp for the Devils in the first were; Parker Stewart, Trevor Hoskin and Noah Richard. Providing the helpers were; Corbin Roach with two, Sami Douglas-Najem, Connor Hunt, Trevor McDowell, and Dalyn Wakely  Each team skated to a scoreless second period.  The Devils rediscovered their offense in the third period as Connor Hunt and Noah Richard each scored, and Corbin Roach added two more. Assisting on the third period goals were; Cooper Matthews, Kellen Dostaler, Trevor McDowell, Donovan McCoy, Corbin Roach and Dalyn Wakely.  The Colts would add a third period goal, but the Devils would dominate this one by a 7-1 score.  Braydon Spry was near perfect in the Devils cage.

On Sunday Sept. 24, the Bus Liners travelled to Whitby to take on the Wildcats at Iroquois Park.  The Devils came out of the gates flying as they potted 4 goals in the first period and the Wildcats added one.  Scoring for the “Red Helmets” in the first period were; Corbin Roach, Kellen Dostaler, Liam Filip, and Connor Hunt.  Providing the valuable helpers were; Connor Hunt, Noah Richard with a pair, Cooper Matthews, Trevor McDowell, and Corbin Roach.  The Devils continued a high tempo game into the second as Owen Beck and Dalyn Wakely lit the lamp.  Trevor Hoskin, Liam Filip and Parker Stewart assisted on the second period goals.  Noah Richard and Liam Filip added two more goals in the third from Cooper Matthews and Donovan McCoy.  Finals score was 8 - 1 in favour of the Devils as Braydon Spry went the Distance in the Devil’s net.

Next Action for the Foley Bus Lines Minor Midgets is their “Home Opener” against the York Simcoe Express, on Saturday Sept 30 at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 3pm


The Pita Pit – Atom
The Pita Pit boys travelled to London this weekend to participate in the 2nd annual Drew Doughty tournament. Game 1 ended in a 3-2 loss Friday morning to the Buffalo Jr Sabres. Alek Asimis assisted by Rylan McCormack, and Evan Erwin assisted by Nathan Sills were the goal scorers. Liam Boyer handled the goaltending duties and Player of the Game was Alek Asimis.

Game 2 was another 3-2 loss to the Markham Waxers. Goals were provided by Asimis assisted by Mason Musclow and Jake Sage, and Deke Osterhout assisted by Asimis and Sage. Lennox Stewart was between the pipes, and Player of the game was Samuel Thompson.


The Pita Pit boys started their Saturday morning with a 4-3 victory over the Chatham Kent Cyclones. Goals came from Evan Erwin, Mason Boyer, Kaiden Harmon (2)  with assists by Osterhout, Mason Boyer(2), and Carter Chadwick. Liam Boyer picked up the win in net, and the Player of the Game was Kaiden Harmon.

In the final game the Pita Pit boys faced the Los Angeles Jr Kings in a 4-1 loss. The lone goal was scored by Harmon assisted by Asimis and Erwin. Lennox Stewart handled the goaltending duties and Player of the Game was Carter Chadwick.


Madison Excavating - Minor Peewees
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees were on the road again this weekend taking on the Whitby Wildcats on Saturday and the Coyotes in Richmond Hill on Sunday.

The Devils met the Wildcats on the ice at the McKinney arena on Saturday in what would be a game of back and forth play. The first period would end in a 0-0 tie but it would be Whitby to strike first early in the second. The Devils battled hard and in the last minutes of play in the third, it was Ty Therrien who found the back of the Whitby net to tie the game. Mike McIvor stood tall in the net for Quinte and would help see the Devils take a point with a 1-1 final.

Sunday, the Devils travelled to Richmond Hill to face the Coyotes. Once again Quinte faced a scoreless first period with back and forth play in both ends. It was not until the third period when it was the Devils who hit the scoreboard first on an unassisted goal from Brody Partridge. The Coyotes managed to sneak one by net minder Dean Spry but that would be there only one, as it was Partridge again to take the go ahead goal on the set up from Ben Danford. The Devils held on for the 2-1 win, going home with another 2 points in league play.

Last weekend The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees took to the road to open up the regular season facing the North Central Predators and the Barrie Colts. Saturday, the Devils took on the the Predators in Rama. Both teams came out fast and battled back and forth. The first period ended in a 0-0 tie with Mike McIvor making many key saves in the net. Quinte was first on the board with a goal from Brody Partridge assisted by Gage Butcher. Central scored shortly after to tie it again. The third saw a back and forth game with the Preds taking the lead, only to see Quinte tie it again with a goal from Beckett Ewart, from Jared Langdon. It would be the same pairing for the Devils go ahead goal with 1 minute left in the game. Central managed to score again within the last seconds of the game to make it a 3-3 final.

Sunday saw the Devils in Barrie to take on the Colts. It was the Colts that struck first in the first and second periods to give them a 2-0 lead. The Devils were undeterred and battled into the third with a goal from Rylan Reid on the set up from Ewart and Langdon. Braedyn Rogers would come up with the tying goal, assisted by Ewart and Langdon to make it a 2-2 final. Dean Sort stood tall in net for Quinte.

On Deck: This week, the Devils will travel to Kingston to face the Frontenacs at 7pm on Wednesday at the Invista Centre.


Kwik Kopy Printing - Minor Atom
The Kwik Kopy Printing Minor Atoms traveled to Clarington Friday September 22nd for a match with the Toros. Quinte had plenty of chances throughout the first period outshooting Clarington 10-2.  Connor Fetterley gave the Red Devils the lead late in the period assisted by Riley Reid.  The second period would start the same as Kaden Koutroulides scored one minute in assisted by Owen Rivers and Kolby Craig.  Quinte continued to pressure and had a number of great scoring chances. Midway through the period Clarington scored to cut the lead in half.  The Devils were pressing for the insurance goal but a late rush by the Toros lead to the tying goal.  Although the shots heavily favoured the Devils this game would end in 2-2 tie. 

Kaden Mcbride Hyde secured the tie in net. 

The Devils were looking to get back into the win column as they hosted the Markham Waxers Saturday September 23rd. Ryland Cunningham got the Devils on the board late in the first assisted by Jack Foley and Connor Fetterley.  Early in the second Cunningham rifled a shot top corner off the rush to put the Devils up 2-0 assisted by Tavin MacDonald and Blake Leblanc.  Quinte not wanting to let a 2 goal lead slip away like the night before continued to press.  Foley with a nifty move in tight gave the Devils a 3-0 lead assisted by MacDonald and Cunningham with 10 minutes left to play.  Minutes later, Owen Rivers roofed a backhand from Craig and Leblanc. Nowl Wallace, looking for his second straight shutout continued to turn away each shot he faced securing the 4-0 win.

Bonn Law - Peewee
The Bonn Law Quinte Red Devils Major Peewee Team were in Oshawa last weekend, to face the Generals in their first game of the regular season. The Red Devils struck first, on a goal from Jack Dever. The Generals evened the score a few minutes later, and although the Devils would score two more goals before the end of the second period, the General managed to score two more goals of their own to tie the game 3-3. Also scoring for the Red Devils was Christopher Brydges and Jack Lowry. Assisting on the goals was Ethan Quick (2), Will Haley and Ethan Miedema. Aidan Crowley was solid in net for his team.
