QRD WEEKLY REPORT – Oct. 17/22
The Bonn Law QRD U12 Team were Finalists at The Peterborough Ice-fest Tournament this weekend.
The Devils put up an impressive 6-1 record, losing a heartbreaker, by a score of 6-5 to The Halton Hurricanes in the Championship game. Lighting the lamp for the Devils in the game; Shea Teather (2), Grant, Nicholson and Goulah. Assists; Teather, Grant, Goulah, Pettey. Dax Sage was solid between the pipes in the game. Teather was chosen as tournament MVP for The Devils.
In their first game of the tournament, the Red Devils defeated Ottawa Valley Titans by a score of 6-1. The Team carried the momentum into Friday, when they went on to beat Huron Perth 10-1 and The Waterloo Wolves 9-1. On Saturday, the Red Devils finished the round robin with a 4-3 win over a talented Toronto Titans team, which was enough for a first place finish in the division. In the quarter finals, the Red Devils skated to a 3-0 win over Ajax. Goals were provided by Whalen, Plummer and Grant. Assists; Gullage, Goulah, Stevens, Teather. Sage with the shutout.
The Devils played a solid team game, in a 7-3 win over The Upper Canada Cyclones, in the tournament semi-final on Sunday. Lighting the lamp for the team was Plummer, Nicholson, Hughes, Stevens, Grant, Goulah and McCulloch. Chipping in with helpers on the goals; Gullage (2), Stevens, Marsden, McCulloch, Whalen, Dowling. Matt Travers was sharp between the pipes for the win.
ON DECK: The Bonn Law QRD U12 Red Devils are on the road Friday Oct 21 st 7:00 pm @ Kingston. Saturday Oct 22nd 12:30 pm the play at the Baltimore arena vs Peterborough.

The McInroy Maines QRD U18 team were busy on the ice, hosting the Whitby Wildcats mid-week and taking a road trip to Ottawa for their inaugural tournament debut.
This past Wednesday the QRD McInroy Maines squad hosted the Whitby U18s at the RCAF arena. The midweek match up saw the teams back and forth for the first period which ended in a 1-1 split on the scoreboard. Scoring in the first for the Devils was Justin Murdoch from Joey Coates. Quinte would keep the Wildcats off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game while notching another goal in each of the next two sets to take the 3-1 victory. Coates would go on to score in the second on the set up from Carter McKee and Luke Jarmin, while it was Thomas Elkins, assisted by McKee and Jared Woolley on the final goal in the third. Glen McInnes was in net for the win.
The McInroy Maines crew headed to Ottawa for the 17th Annual Ottawa Senators Showcase Tournament. Opening day had the Devils lined up against the Waterloo Wolves. In a game that would be back and forth for three periods - the Devils were down by 1 goal and managed to tie the game in the dying minutes of the third. Despite their chances, QRD would settle for the 1-1 tie in game one. Game two lined the team up against OHA where the QRD group battled hard and took a 3-1 victory. Day two of the tournament opened with an early morning match up against the Oakville Rangers, the team struggled at times through adversities and unfortunately came up a bit short and lost 2-3 to the Rangers. In their final set of the round robin play, the Devils faced the Carleton Place Canadians and kept them off the scoreboard through all three periods taking a 4-0 win. Unfortunately, their record did not allow them to advance to the next rounds of the tournament but was a good opportunity to build on the team's future success.
ON DECK: The McInroy Maines Quinte Red Devils U18 teamwill be hosting the Central Ontario Wolves on Oct. 19th at the RCAF rink and will play host again on Saturday, Oct. 22nd to the North Central Predators at the QSWC.

U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils Start the Regular Season with a Win and a Loss
On Saturday, the U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils hit the road to start off the regular season against the Barrie Jr. Colts. It was a hard-fought battle but a tough 4-2 loss against the Colts. Reece Herman was in nets and goals were scored by Parker Ferguson and Evan Erwin.
On Sunday, the Red Devils travelled to Orillia and came out on top, beating the North Central Predators 6-2. Liam Boyer protected the net and goals were scored by Erwin (2), Ben Sherwin (2), Sunny Fanjoy and Mason Musclow.
ON DECK: The U16 Pita Pit Quinte Red Devils take on the Clarington Toros at home on Thursday (7pm start). On Friday, they travel to Ajax-Pickering to battle the Raiders and on Sunday, they’ll hit the road again to take on the Richmond Hill Coyotes. Good luck Red Devils!

The U15 Free Flow Petroleum Devils had a Tough Week on the Road
The U15s had three Away games this week, starting in Kingston on Tuesday, Oct. 11th. It was a chippy game but despite some strong physical play by the Devils, they would come up short in the 8-4 match. Scoring for Quinte was Jack Foley (Jake Campbell), Campbell J, Liam Campbell (Owen Rivers) and Kolby Craig (Campbell, L and Matthew Airhart. Cohen Bedore took the loss in net.
Friday night, the Devils headed to Innisfil to face the Barrie Jr. Colts. Ryan Kinghan (Jacob Moore) found the back of the net at 15:13 in the second frame, but the home team came on strong defeating the Devils 6-1. Katste Brant was in net for the loss.
Saturday evening the U15s traveled to Rama First Nation to face the North Central Predators. A high-paced back and forth game, Campbell, L. hit the twine twice for the Devils in the second period (Foley, Campbell, J.), while Moore found the back of the net at the start of the third. Ultimately, the Devils would come up short in the 5-3 loss, with Bedore in net.
ON DECK: The Free Flow Petroleum Devils travel to Toronto for the Tyler Craig Memorial Jr. Canadiens Cup, where they will face-off against the Ottawa Valley Titans, Markham Waxers, Mississauga Senators, and Don Mills Flyers.

Silver Medal Showing for the U14 E360 Solutions Red Devils
The Quinte U14 E360 Solutions Red Devils picked up a silver medal at the Peterborough IceFest tournament this weekend. The Red Devils got outstanding goaltending from Lily Reid (two shutouts) and Charlie Vos and the coaching praised the effort of all 19 players over the weekend.

Gillespie’s Tree Service QRD U13s Earn a Split
On Saturday October 15th, the Gillespie’s Tree Service U13smade another trip to Barrie to
take on the Colts. The Red Devils came out flying in the first playing with urgency and
suffocating the Colts with their play style. Trent Clow would get QRD on the board first to
put the Red Devils 1-0 assist coming from Mauve Aird. Heading into the second period
Quinte would keep on the gas pedal and add a couple more tallies up on the board, coming
from Lauchlan Whelan and Ewan Dahle, helpers from (Andrew Dewar, Spencer Harold).
Going into the third period it was almost as if QRD flat lined and got away from the game plan
as Barrie would come all the way back from 3-1 to upset Quinte and take it with a final score
of 4-3.
After a tough loss the U13 Quinte Red Devils travelled to Ajax to take on the Ajax-Pickering
Raiders on the hunt for a very important 2 points. Andrew Laurin would start the scoring for
QRD getting the first of his two goals in the contest putting them on the board 35 seconds
into the game, assists coming (Brechyn Aird, Drew Wright) Unfortunately the Raiders would
come right back down the ice and knot the game back up at one not even a minute later.
Quinte would battle back and take back the lead, Clow supplying the goal with assists
by (Whelan, Harold). The Raiders would not go away so it would take
some extra effort by the Red Devils to secure 2 points. Whelan would break the
3-3 tie to put QRD up 4-3, (Easton Thompson, Ryder Hooey) with the apples. Quinte would
head into the third in a 4-4 tie, the U13s were determined to come out of Ajax with the win
adding three goals in the third, from Liam Marion, Dahle and Joey Seguin would add
the empty netter to secure the 7-4 win.
ON DECK: The Gillespie’s Tree Service U13s face off October 18th vs the Central Ontario Wolves @ Marmora Community Centre, 7:00pm. October 21-23, they take part in the Barrie Challenge Cup.

The U11 Madison Excavating Red Devils Played Hard at the Drew Doughty Tournament in London
The Madison Excavating QRD U11s had a busy and fun-filled weekend, as they travelled to London and competed in their first tournament of the 2022-2023 season. The QRD U11s finished with a 2-1-1 record after round robin play. Although they did not make it to the semi-finals, it was not for lack of effort, and they had many shining moments to be proud of.
Friday, October 14th: Game 1
The Madison Excavating QRD U11s started off strong with a win against the Guelph Jr. Gryphons to begin the tournament. By the end of the first period, QRD had scored the only goal. QRD would continue to reign success with two more goals in the second period. The Gryphons rallied early in the third period to bring the score to 3-1. QRD, however, scored five goals in the last seven minutes of the game, securing an 8-1 victory. It was truly a team effort, with goals being scored by Blake Milne, Everett Brown, Coulter Watson (x 2), Cooper Plumley, Kade Whelan, Blake McManus, and Blake Sills. Ben Larmer made some stellar saves between the pipes. Player of the Game went to forward, Whelan.
Friday, October 14th: Game 2
Later that afternoon, QRD would take on the Lambton Jr. Sting. At the end of period one, QRD was in the lead with the lone goal. The Sting managed to tie it up in the second period, however, QRD rallied early in the third to re-take the lead. The Sting then capitalized on the power play midway through the third, to tie the game, 2-2. Both Robbie Robinson and Kade Osterhout made excellent plays, resulting in goals. Hayden Tripp secured the tie in net. Player of the Game was awarded to defenceman, Keaton Clute.
Saturday, October 15th: Game 1
Saturday afternoon, QRD would go head-to-head with The Sault Ste. Marie Jr. Greyhounds. The first period ended without a single goal on either side. Early in the second period, however, QRD capitalized on the power play, taking a 1-0 lead, and followed it up two minutes later with a second goal. The Greyhounds scored early in the third to cut the lead in half. Meanwhile, QRD killed off a penalty taken with three minutes left in the game, before scoring with 51 seconds left, to seal the deal. Milne, Osterhout, and Whelan helped to keep QRD on top by scoring goals. Goaltender, Tripp made some timely saves, earning him Player of the Game.
Saturday, October 15th: Game 2
The final game of the tournament was a tough one for QRD, as they took on Little Caesars out of Michigan. Little Caesars scored late in the first period to take a 1-0 lead, where the score would remain unchanged for the next two. In spite of QRD’s hard work, Little Caesars would then score early in the third period before taking advantage of a five minute penalty, scoring two goals in under a minute. Little Caesars and QRD then exchanged one goal each in the final five minutes of the game, to end in a 5-1 loss for QRD. In spite of it being a challenging game, Brown skillfully managed to score the team’s solitary goal. Player of the Game went to goaltender Larmer for making some huge saves and keeping it close throughout.
In spite of not moving on to the semi-finals, the team has a great deal to be proud of. With a phenomenal display of teamwork, QRD only allowed 9 goals against in 4 games, while netting 14 of their own. The team continues to drive forward with maximum effort in each game, learning new skills and strategies along the way.

The Foley Bus Lines U10 Red Devils travelled to London this weekend to play in The Drew Doughty Ronald McDonald House Invitational.
They opened their tournament on Friday morning with a 2-2 tie vs. the Toronto Young Nationals. The team fought back from being down 2-0. Quinte goal scorers were Cohen Reid and Evan Andrews who had the tying goal late in the third. Will Beebe picked up an assist in the game. Lily Groeneveld was in net and was named player of the game.
Friday afternoon they played another strong team in the Waterloo Wolves. They won a thrilling 3-2 game. Goal scorers were Max Norton, Graydon Tucker and Kash Nelson (game winner). Assists went to Matt Dawson, Lindon Ludolph, Ethan Dowling and Reid. Blake Laurin with the win between the pipes. Player of the game was Jaxon Elrick.
Friday night the team was treated to an OHL game between the London Knights and Mississauga Steelheads. It was an entertaining win for Mississauga with QRD grad Owen Beck picking up the OT winner.
Saturday morning the team came out strong and picked up a 13-1 win vs. the Toronto Titans. Red Devil goals were scored by Norton (3), Andrews (3), Dawson (2), Ludolph (2), Beebe (2) and Noah Gilchrist. Assists went to Gilchrist (4), Norton (2), Andrews (2), Sebastien Smit (2), Malkin Courtney (2), Reid (2), Dawson, Dowling, Mac Brown and Nelson. Groeneveld with the win in net. Player of the game was Dawson.
Saturday night the team booked their spot into the semi-finals with a 13-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons. Quinte goals were scored by Beebe (3), Norton (3), Nelson (3), Andrews (2), Elrick and Reid.
Assists went to Gilchrist (3), Beebe and Brown. Laurin picked up the win. Red Devils player of the game was Beebe.
Sunday morning, they played their semi-final game against a very strong Little Caesars team out of Detroit. Quinte was on the losing end of a 9-1 score. Norton scored Quinte’s lone goal and was also named player of the game.
