Mississauga Border Battle & ETA Results
Mississauga Border Battle – ShowCase Nov 20-22 The CrossFit Belleville Bantams travelled to Mississauga to play a 5 game set against the top ranking teams in Ontario and the USA.

Game #1 – St.Louis Blues – 3 -1 Win for Quinte

Ethan Taylor was in net to earn the win against the Blues and played well as the defensive pairings kept the shots to the perimeter. The goals were scored by Logan White, Zach Uens and Bailey Matthews  whiles assists went to Emmett Pierce, Keegan Hunt(2), Daniel Panetta(2) and Zach Uens.

Game #2 – Mississauga Reps – 7 – 2 Loss of Quinte

Brennan Bush was in net for the Red Devils and took the loss but had very little defensive zone coverage support by his defensive pairings or any back pressure in the “D” zone by the forward lines. The game was very much in control for the Red Devils in the first period then the “the wheels fell off” and once again the Devils just stopped playing as the Reps scored 5 goals before Quinte realized they were still in a hockey game. The CrossFit Belleville Bantams’ goals were scored by Michael Andrews and Daniel Panetta and the loan assist was by Michael Andrews.

Game #3 – Boston Minuteman – 5 -2 Win for Quinte

Ethan Taylor was in net for the Red Devils and played extremely well to earn his second win in a row in the Showcase. The Red Devils played better than the previous night and the message of #TeamDefence seemed to have been absorbed by the players as they limited the Minuteman to shots from the perimeter and gave up only a handful of quality scoring opportunities. The Quinte goals were scored by Michael Andrews, Daniel Panetta(2), Jake Campbell and Emmet Pierce while assists went to Derrick Vos(2), Daniel Panetta(2), Dalton Bancroft(2) and Ryan Loiselle.

Game #4 – MidFairField Rangers – 4 -1 Loss for Quinte

Brennan Bush was in net and once again fell victim to a lack lustre effort by his teammates in front of him. The Red Devils were lethargic, lazy and effortless from the opening faceoff to the final buzzer with the only real excitement coming from the Rangers taunting parents. The loan goal was scored by Daniel Panetta while assists went to Conner Kennedy and Carden Guerin.

Game #5 – Detroit Compuware – 3 -1 Loss for Quinte

Ethan Taylor was in net for his only loss of the Showcase and wasn’t beaten during 5 on 5 hockey. The loan Quinte goal was scored by Bailey Matthews and assists went to Jake Campbell and Cameron Supryka.

ETA Regular Season Action – Peterborough Petes – 3 – 3 Tie

The CrossFit Belleville Bantams travelled to Peterborough with only 6 forwards and earned a point. The Red Devils out chanced the Petes by a wide margin but could not capitalize on their opportunities. The goals were scored by Michael Andrews, Emmett Pierce and Daniel Panetta while assists went to Ryan Loiselle, Cameron Supryka, Derrick Vos and Daniel Panetta. Brennan Bush was in net for the tie.

ETA Regular Season Action – Barrie Colts –2 –1 Loss

The next day saw the ETA leading Barrie Colts come to Quinte to face off against a team that would still be short a player as Bailey Matthews was serving his second of a two game suspension. Barrie would open the scoring half way through the first period as Ethan Taylor was beat on his glove side. Quinte would answer back in the second period as Dalton Bancroft would blast one into the back of the net on a sweet passing play by Emmett Pierce and Cameron Supryka. Once again Quinte would give Barrie the lead with 9 minutes remaining in the third on a defensive end draw that Quinte loss resulted in a bad bounce goal. Ethan Taylor was in net for the loss.

ETA Regular Season Action – Clarington Toros – 5-1 Win

Brennan Bush was in net and played well as he earned another regular season victory against the Clarington Toros. Goals were scored by Jake Campbell(2), Derrick Vos(2) and Daniel Panetta while assists went to Dalton Bancroft(2), Michael Andrews, Daniel Panetta, Derrick Vos, Logan White, Carden Guerin, Ryan Loiselle and Bailey Matthews.

ETA Regular Season Action – Oshawa Generals – 2-1 Loss

During a mid-week clash with the Generals the Red Devils came out and kept the shots to a minimum but unfortunately it was a minimum at both ends and the offensive opportunities were scarce. In the opening period there wasn’t any scoring and each team barely had a handful of shots. The second period the Generals would open the scoring just 6 minutes in on a nice passing play as they capitalized on the Devils weak defensive zone coverage. Then the Generals would take a 2-0 lead just 90 seconds into the third period and would put a strangle hold on the Red Devils who hadn’t put up much of an effort in any of the three zones. Daniel Panetta would score with 2:36 remaining as the Devils finally had some net presence and offensive zone pressure . Ethan Taylor would take the loss.
