The CrossFit Belleville Bantams were up to the Challenge
The CrossFit Belleville Bantams were guests at the Oshawa Challenge over the weekend and were the top ranked team in the tournament. The Bantams did not disappoint as they finished first in their Division on route to playing a perfect 6-0 during the tournament.

Game #1 – Brantford 99’ers (2-1 Win)

Ethan Taylor was in net for the Red Devils and was only beaten once on route to the victory. The goal scorers were Bailey Matthews and Conner Kennedy while assists went to Nolan Seto, Michael Andrews and Carden Guerin with two in the opening game.

Game #2 – Wheatfield Blades (6-1 Win)

Brennan Bush was in goal for the Bantams as the Red Devils cruised to a 6-1 win. Jake Campbell led the way with three goals, Logan White, Zach Uens and Derrick Vos each had singles for the Quinte cause. Assists in the game went to Emmet Pierce, Daniel Panetta, Zach Uens, Dalton Bancroft(2), Logan White, Cameron Supryka, Conner Kennedy(2) and Nolan Seto with two. The team was short Bailey Matthews (for the next 5) and Michael Andrews due to game suspensions from the Brantford game.

 

Game #3 – Sault Ste Marie (Soo) Greyhounds (5-1 Win)

The CrossFit Belleville Bantams came out with three straight goals in the first period before allowing the Greyhounds to score as they beat Ethan Taylor on a nice slap shot that was destined for the back of the net. The Red Devils would answer back twice and put the game out of reach early in the third period. Goals were scored by Michael Andrews, Daniel Panetta, Dalton Bancroft, Logan White and Nolan Seto while assists went to Carden Guerin, Michael Andrews, Keegan Hunt(2), Emmet Pierce, Ryan Loiselle and Isaac Langdon.

 

Game #4 – Chatham-Kent Cyclones (5-1 Win)

The Red Devils faced are tougher opponent against the Cyclones and it was a close game in the first period as the Red Devils took a 2-0 lead but allowed the Cyclones to cut the lead in half before the end of the period. The Cyclones tested Brennan Bush several times but he was equal to the task and stoned them during the last two periods allowing his teammates to skate to their fourth victory in as many games. Goals were scored by Jake Campbell, Emmet Pierce, Daniel Panetta, Dalton Bancroft and Michael Andrews while assists went to Emmet Pierce, Cameron Supryka(3), Jake Campbell, Ryan Loiselle, Michael Andrews, Zach Uens and Logan White.

 

Game #5 – Semi-Finals - Niagara North Stars (4-2 Win)

The Red Devils came out somewhat flat in the early minutes of the period and gave up the first goal. Ethan Taylor was net and played extremely well and kept his team in the game as they tried to find their legs. The Devils were able to gain some momentum and scored the next three goals on route to the victory. Goals were scored by Daniel Panetta, Keegan Hunt, Michael Andrews and Ryan Loiselle while assists went to Jake Campbell, Emmet Pierce, Michael Andrews, Zach Uens, Logan Whit and Cameron Supryka.

Game #6 – Finals – Sun County Panthers (3-2 Win)

This was the toughest match of the tournament and one of the few teams to match the size, speed and skill of the Red Devils. Brennan Bush was in net for the Red Devils and played as well as any goalie could have and kept his team in the game. Both goals for the Panthers were screened-deflections of sort and Brennan stopped every shot he saw in the game. Goals were scored by Logan White, Michael Andrews(2) , while assists went to Derrick Vos, Cameron Supryka, Logan White and Emmet Pierce. The team was short the services of Nolan Seto as he was serving a game suspensions (for the next 2), both he and Bailey Matthews were missed in the finals as they bring a certain element to the rink each and every day.

 

Next up in ETA League play for the CrossFit Belleville Bantams will be the Kingston Frontenacs in Kingston on Wednesday night.
