Weekly Report Nov. 20-Nov.26
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees secured 2 points this week in league play and participated in the Whitby Silver Stick over the weekend.

The Devils travelled to Kingston on Tuesday to take on the Jr. Frontenacs. Quinte wasted no time in the first and took a 2-0 lead before the end of the first set. Scoring for the Devils was Jared Langdon and Liam Philip. Assisting in the first was Beckett Ewart and Langdon. The second periodwas quiet and would remain scoreless. The third period saw the Devils cushion their lead with 2 more goals. The first, unassisted, by Philip and the second from Langdon, assisted by Ewart and Deacon Ellis. Mike McIvor recored the shut out in net for Quinte for the 4-0 win.

The Minor Peewees travelled close to home for the Whitby Silver Stick tournament. Game play started Thursday for the Devils as they faced off against the ETA West Richmond Hill Coyotes. Quinte would strike first with a goal from Ty Therrien, assisted by Thomas Kuipers and Ben Vreugdenhil. Philip would score the lone goal of the second set on the set up from Ewart but it would be all Richmond Hill in the third. The Devils held the Coyotes off the scoreboard until the dying minutes of the third when they managed to sneak 2 quick goals past the Devils quick net minder. The game would end in a 2-2 tie. Dean Spry was solid between the pipes.

Friday had the Devils playing 2 games. The first was a wild match up with the Long Island Royals. The first would end scoreless as both teams worked hard to match speed and skill, but in the second it was the Royals who struck first. The Devils wasted no time answering back to tie it on an unassisted goal from Philip and then get the go ahead goal from Ben Danford, assisted by Landon Wright. The third period would end scoreless but remained a physical battle right to the bitter end. Tempers ran high for the opposing team as they succumbed to the loss but the Devils remained composed and took home their first win of the tournament. McIvor took the 3-2 win in net.

Friday's game 2 was against a familiar team, as the Devil's took on their rivals from the 2016 OMHA final, the Markham Waxers. The Devils wasted no time and came out of the gates flying. Ben Vreugdenhil opened up the scoring with an unassisted shot from the point, giving Quinte a 1-0 lead. Markham was relentless accumulating a few goals during the second. The Devils were undeterred and worked to close the gap and claim 3 goals in the third period. Scoring for the Devils was Philip(2) and Gage Butcher. Assisting in the third were Ewart (2), Langdon, Wright and Therrien. Spry made many key saves in the game but the Devils came up short taking the 6-4 loss.

Saturday saw the Devils face the Boston Minutemen. Therrien would open the scoring in the first with an unassisted beauty. Langdon would add another, assisted by Ewart and Danford before the end of the set. Langdon would get his second of the game in the third to make it a 3-2 lead. Boston put the pressure on in the dying seconds as the Devils played the penalty kill. Quinte held their own, with McIvor making a few last minute saves to secure the win. Unfortunately 2 wins and a tie were not enough to secure the Devils a Sunday game.

On Deck: The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees will play host to the Richmond Hill Coyotes at home on Saturday at QSWC and will be in Markham on Sunday to face the Waxers.
