Weekly Report Jan. 8-15
The Madison Excavating Minor Peewees were participants in The Cup tournament in Buffalo, N.Y.
Game one Friday had the Devils face the Brantford 99ers. The two teams battled hard back and forth and while the Devils had the lead a few times throughout the game, they would have to settle for a 4-4 tie to start the tourney. Mike McIvor minded the net for Quinte.
Friday's second game had Quinte face the New Jersey Avalanche. The Devils would come out strong and take their first win of the tournament with a dominant 6-0 win. Dean Spry recorded the shut out.
Game one Saturday had the Devils play a memorable and chilly outdoor game against the Valley Jr. Warriors. Taking their second win with 5-1 victory. McIvor took the win in net.
Matching up against the toughest competition of the tournament, the Devils took on the Mississauga Sens on Saturday evening. The boys worked hard and while the second period was scoreless for both, they succumbed to their first loss of The Cup with a 5-0 loss. Spry was in net for the game.
On Deck: Double header Saturday verses the Oshawa Generals at QSWC. Game one 11:30am and game two at 2:15pm.
