With a future playoff matchup in sight, the Stamprete QRD U12’s hosted the Whitby Wildcats this past Saturday in Madoc. These two teams had battled to a tie only 2 weeks prior, so a close tested affair was to be predicted.
Ewan Dahle opened the scoring for QRD, with a nice move coming from a great cycle down low courtesy of Trent Clow and Easton Thompson. In the second period, Ben Hunt would add to QRD’s lead beating the goalie low blocker side off of a nice setup from Lauchlan Whelan and Drew Wright. After killing off a couple of penalties and missing out on their own power play opportunity, Quinte would strike again in the 3rd thanks to Whelan’s hard shot from the top of the circles (assisted by Brechyn Aird).
Down 3-0, Whitby responded quickly scoring off of a net front scramble, however Quinte’s relentless forecheck and some timely saves by Ryerson Swan would seal the 3-1 QRD win!
With this win Quinte leapfrogged Whitby in the League Standings taking over 4thplace!
