Stampkrete QRD U12’s End Successful Season
The Stampkrete QRD U12’s travelled to Oakville to compete in the OMHA Championships on the weekend.  QRD finished off the round robin format with a record of 0-1-2, which was not quite good enough to advance to Sundays Semi-Finals.

With their lone game on Friday the Stampkrete QRD U12’s opened the OMHA Championships with their league rival, the Clarington Toro’s. Clarington would answer first, opening the scoring with a power play marker in the 1stperiod. Battling hard, both teams would go scoreless in the 2nd, before Trent Clow evened the score with an unassisted marker in the 3rd.  Lauchlan Whelan would give QRD the lead with an unassisted marker of his own, before Clarington would respond with their 2ndpower play goal of the game to even the score at 2-2.  Nathan Ferriss had a strong game in net securing the tie.

On Saturday, the Stampkrete QRD U12’s matched up with the host team, Oakville Rangers.  Joey Seguin opened the scoring just 39 seconds into the game converting a nice play by Brechyn Aird and Easton Thompson.  However, just 16 seconds later Oakville would even the score to make it a 1-1 game.  In the second, QRD would again take the lead with Seguin getting his second of the game with a nice setup up from Thompson. Oakville was quick to respond again, tying the game up at 2, before scoring again late in the second to take a 3-2 lead heading into the final frame.  After a hard fought 3rdperiod, Oakville would seal the deal with an empty net goal to win the game 4-2.  Ryerson Swan took the loss in net.

With their fate already sealed, the Stampkrete QRD U12’s played their final game of the year vs. the Niagara North Stars. Niagara was 2-0 thus far on the weekend and had yet to give up a goal heading into the contest. Going into the second period down 1-0, Quinte would finally end Niagara’s shut-out bid when Trent Clow converted a nice set up from Coen Lowry and Ryder Hooey to even the game 1-1.  Niagara would answer back, scoring 2 more to take a 3-1 lead heading in the final period.  Like they have shown all year, Quinte battled hard and made it a 3-2 game when Hudson Brown streaked down the wing and made a nice pass to Trent Clow for his 2ndof the game.  Then with only 21 seconds left to play, Ryder Hooey was credited with tying the game from Ewan Dahle and Lowry. To add yet a little more excitement, QRD would take a penalty in the dyeing seconds resulting in a defensive end faceoff with less than 3 seconds left on the clock.  Niagara would pull their goalie for the extra attacker and draw up a play on the ensuing timeout, but to no avail as Quinte would secure the 3-3 tied game. Nathan Ferriss and Ryerson Swan would split the game in net, both making timely saves throughout the contest.

The Stampkrete QRD U12’s would love to give a shout out to all of its sponsors, family, and friends for all their support throughout the season. THANK YOU!
