QRD U18 Weekly Report Feb. 13, 2023
The McInroy Maines u18 QRD team finished up their regular season this week with a road game in Whitby and hosting the Markham Waxers to close out the season and secure 4 points with two wins. The team also recognized our 6 graduating players Keenan Wiles, Carter McKee, Trent Williams, Cooper Kellar, Justin Murdoch and Joey Coates for their commitment and leadership.

The team was on the road to Whitby on Friday to face the Wildcats. In a game that started with a 2-0 lead for the Devils by the end of the first set, the next two sets were all offence as the team toppled their opponents in a 9-1 victory. Scoring in the first were Gage Butcher and Trent Williams scoring his first of three in the game. Assisting the first were Thomas Elkins and Justin Murdoch. Murdoch would also go on to get the second hat trick of the game over the second and third set. Also scoring in the second were Carter McKee and Ty McCambridge. Assists in the second and third came from Jared Woolley, Butcher, Joey Coates, Keenan Wiles and Elkins. Glen McInnes was strong in net for the win for the Devils.

Saturday was a special day for the Devils as they hosted the Markham Waxers on the CAA ice in Belleville to close out the regular season play. The team took time before the start of the game to recognize and honour the 6 players who will be graduating out of the Red Devils association this year. Their leadership and contributions this season have been a key to the team's success and growth. In line with that, the game that followed was a back and forth battle. Dean Spry was outstanding in net, turning away all offensive opportunities the Waxers had and it was Trent Williams who scored the lone goal of the game on the set up from Justin Murdoch and Deacon Ellis to seal a 1-0 win for the Devils. Spry with the shutout.
