Breakaway Fuels U10's Capture Drew Doughty Championship
The Breakaway Fuels U10 Red Devils headed to London for the prestigious Drew Doughty tournament this past weekend.

The Young Devils rolled through the round robin games undefeated with wins over Oakville, Guelph and Brantford.

In game one on Friday morning, after a scoreless first period the boys buckled down and scored 6 unanswered in the last two frames for a convincing 6-0 victory over the Oakville Rangers.  Scoring was done by Jackson Simpson (3), Reid Haley, Kolton Solmes and Ethan Dowling.  Assists went  to Haley (3), Mason Cooke (2), Wade Robinson, Kai Mackie, Jaxon Scott, Solmes and Dowling.

After a little rest they were back at it against the Guelph Gryphons in the afternoon.  Once again the first period was a hard fought battle ending scoreless.  As in game one the Devils took over and finished with an 8-1 win.  Scorers were Mackie (2), Simpson (2), Haley, Robinson, Tripp Plumley and Greyson Rennie.  Assists went to Dowling (2), Scott (2), Cooke, Rennie, Plumley, Simpson, Haley, Robinson, Avery Thickson and Silas Templar.

Sat morning saw the kids battle the Brantford 99’ers and come away with a 4-2 victory.  Scoring by Mackie, Cooke, Simpson and Thickson.  Assists to Dowling, Simpson, Haley, Cooke, Templar and Robinson.

It was off to the Quarterfinals Sat afternoon against the Halton Hurricanes.  With a strong effort the Devils came away on top 5-1.  Scoring by Mackie (2), Solmes, Simpson and Plumley.  Assists going to Thickson (2), Evan VanEgmond, Dowling and Solmes.

With an early start Sun morning the U10’s had a date with the host London Junior Knights.  Greyson Rennie started the scoring in the first unassisted.  The second was a scoreless tight checking period that saw several chances but no scoring.  London tied it early in the third but not to be outdone the Devils rebounded and scored two more to punch their ticket to the finals.  Solmes and Haley found the back of the net with the assists going to Mackie, Dowling, Scott and Solmes.  Jordan Andrews was solid all game between the pipes.

The finals saw the young Devils squaring off with a tough Barrie Colts team.  The Colts struck first but that would be all they would get by goalie Deacon Vos for the game and the Devils roared back in the last two periods scoring 5 straight to win the Championship.  Lighting the lamp in the finals were Dowling (2), Solmes, Robinson and Mackie with assists going to Mackie (2), Ryder Bradford, Scott, Solmes and Dowling.
