The Breakaway Fuels U10 Red Devils grabbed two more playoff
wins this weekend to improve to 5-0 in the second season.
Saturday saw the team head north to Woodville to take on
second place Central. As always this
proved to be a great hockey game between two great teams. The young devils would score one in the first,
two in the second and three in the third on their way to a 6-3 victory. Scoring for the Devils was Evan VanEgmond
(2), Kai Mackie (2), Ethan Dowling and Kolton Solmes. Assists went to Ryder Bradford (2), Dowling
(2), Mason Cooke, Jackson Simpson and VanEgmond. Deacon Vos got the win in net. VanEgmond would take home the Devils fork for
his solid game from start to finish.
Sunday had the young Devils hosting the Clarington
Toros. Again this was a tight affair
with the first period ending up 0-0.
Mackie (Dowling,Solmes) would open the scoring 5 minutes into the second. It would remain that way until early in the
third when Dowling (Mackie) would score shorthanded to increase the lead. Mackie (Dowling,Wade Robinson) would provide
some insurance with three minutes left and give the boys a 3-0 win. Jordan Andrews picked up the shutout in the
pipes. Wade Robinson would walk out with the fork after an outstanding game on
the blueline.
This week sees the Breakaway Boys host Oshawa on Thursday
night in Baltimore then North Central Saturday in Coleborne before they head to
Oshawa on Sunday for a rematch with the Generals.
