The Breakaway Fuels U10 Red Devils picked up two more wins
this weekend to finish the playoffs with a 10-0 record.
Saturday saw the young devils play their final home game of
the season in Marmora against the Markham Waxers. The boys scored one in the first and then
opened things up with some beautiful passing plays to score four more in the second
to take a 5-1 lead into the third. The
Waxers wouldn’t go away and scored two quick goals to tighten the score and
make it a game at 5-3. After a timeout
to calm the troops the home team got back on track and scored two more unanswered
goals to take a 7-3 victory. Mason Cooke
was awarded the Devils fork for his strong forty minute effort and two hard
working goals. Deacon Vos picked up the
victory between the pipes.
Sunday had the team head north to take on the North Central
Predators. The road legs were evident
early on and the teams battled hard through the first period. The devils held a 3-1 lead going into the
second and would only manage one more in that frame. The third period saw the boys get back to
Quinte hockey and they would put 5 past the Predators goalie to finish off a
convincing 9-1 win. Jax Scott took home
the fork for his consistent blue line play and heads up hockey throughout the
game. Deacon Vos grabbed another win in
net.
Next weekend sees the Breakaway Fuels Boys head to Newmarket
for the OMHA championships. They will
play at 10:15am and 5:45pm on Friday and 1:15pm on Saturday in round robin play.
