The Breakaway Fuels U10 Red Devils had two league play wins
this weekend.
On Saturday they hosted the Markham Waxers. The first period was dominated by the young
Devils but ended with just a slim 1-0 lead.
The second period saw the kids put their foot on the gas and score 5
more times and take a 6-1 lead into the third.
Three more unanswered goals in the third and the boys found themselves
on the right side of a 9-1 win. Goal
scorers on the day were Kolton Solmes (4), Ethan Dowling (3), Tripp Plumley and
Jackson Simpson. Assists went to Kai
Mackie (4), Dowling (3), Evan VanEgmond, Silas Templar, Reid Haley and Mason
Cooke. Jordan Andrews stood tall in the
net for the victory. Top Devil for the
day was Silas Templar.
On Sunday the team hit the highway for an afternoon tilt
with the Ajax Pickering Raiders. Once again
they dominated the first and found themselves with another 1-0 lead at the first
buzzer on a goal by Plumley, assisted by VanEgmond. The second period saw the two teams trade
goals. Kai Mackie put the team up 2-0
with an assist from Wade Robinson but Ajax answered late in the frame. The third was mainly all Quinte as they found
the back of the net three times. Haley,
Mackie and Simpson did the third period scoring with assists going to Dowling,
Simpson, Cooke (2), Haley and Greyson Rennie.
A late goal by Ajax gave us a final score of 5-2. Deacon Vos was strong in net throughout the
game. Top Devil went to Jackson Simpson.
A busy week ahead for the Breakaway Fuels boys as they host
Peterborough on Wednesday at CAA, North Central Saturday in Marmora and then back
on the road to Whitby for Sunday afternoon.
