The Breakaway Fuels U10 Red Devils picked up all 6 points
this week while only allowing one goal against.
The week started Wednesday night for the young Devils when
Peterborough visited for a match at the CAA arena. The first period was a hard fought battle and
finished with the Devils up 1-0 on a goal by Kai Mackie with assists going to
Kolton Solmes and Ethan Dowling. In the
second period the kids stretched their lead to 3-0 on goals by Dowling and
Mackie. Mackie kept things rolling in
the third notching a natural hat trick to finish with 5 goals. Jackson Simpson also found the back of the
net in the third. Assists on the goals
wend to Reid Haley, Dowling and Solmes.
Jordan Andrews earned the shutout in the 7-0 win. Greyson Rennie was the
Top Devil.
Saturday was another home game for the U10’s but this time
they squared off against the North Central Predators at the Marmora arena. This one was all Quinte from the drop of the
puck and the boys cruised to an 11-0 victory.
Goal scorers were Avery Thickson (3), Mackie (3), Reid Haley (2), Mason Cooke,
McKinley Gunning and Dowling. Assists
went to Dowling (2), Jax Scott (2), Silas Templar, Simpson and Gunning. Deacon Vos grabbed his first Shutout as a Red
Devil and Avery Thickson picked up Top Devil honours.
Sunday the young Devils hit the 401 to meet up with the
Whitby Wildcats at the Iroquois Park Sports Centre. This was circled on the calendar as the two
teams fought to a 4-4 tie a few weeks ago.
The Devils started strong with Solmes scoring early from Dowling and
Mackie. Mackie got them up 2-0 before
Whitby would get one back to finish the first 2-1. Dowling would score on a breakaway early in
the second on a pass from Mackie and that seemed to be the one they needed to totally
take control. Thickson and Mackie (2)
would provide other insurance markers to lead the Devils to a convincing 6-1
win. Other assists on Sunday went to
Gunning (2), Greyson Rennie, Solmes, Mackie and Dowling. Jordan Andrews grabbed his second win of the
week. Jaxon Scott earnedthe top Devil fork for his amazing vision on the
ice throughout the game.
Next week sees the boys hit the road for games at Saint
Andrews College on Saturday against the York Simcoe Express and again on Sunday
in Oshawa against the Generals.
