The Breakaway Fuels U10’s were on the road this weekend for
two games.
Saturday saw the boys travel to Saint Andrews College to
take on the York Simcoe Express. The
long drive was evident when the puck dropped as the Express scored just 10s
in. McKinley Gunning would even the
score unassisted 4 mins later with Quinte’s only shot of the period. The second period was a fast end to end
15minutes with the teams exchanging 2 goals each. Kai Mackie and Kolton Solmes got the goals
with assists going to Ethan Dowling (2), Gunning, and Mackie. The third period was another exciting period
and Deacon Vos made two outstanding glove saves to keep the game tied. Final score 3-3.
Sunday the young Devils were back on the road to face the
Generals in Oshawa. Again the kids found
themselves trailing in the first and wouldn’t really get rolling until the
second period where it was all Quinte.
Scoring in the second was Mackie(2) and Avery Thickson. Assists going to Dowling(2), Silas Templar
and Mackie. The third would continue the
same with the Devils jumping out to a comfortable 5-1 lead on goals by Mackie
and Tripp Plumley with assists going to Jax Scott, Evan VanEgmond and
Dowling. Oshawa would get a late
powerplay goal and the game would end 5-2.
Jordan Andrews got the win in net and Ryder Bradford won top Devil of the
day.
Next weekend sees the Breakaway Fuels Boys head to Hamilton
for some tournament play.
