Saturday saw the Breakaway Fuels U10 Red Devils take on the Clarington
Toros for the second time in a week.
The first period at the Keeler Centre in Coleborne provided
plenty of excitement but both goalies stood tall and kept the game scoreless
after 10 minutes.
Five minutes into the second period Tripp Plumley scored off
a rebound from an Avery Thickson shot.
Silas Templar also picked up an assist on the play. Just 8 seconds later Plumley scored his
second of the game again from Thickson.
Despite carrying a majority of the play the young devils could not put
up any more goals in the middle frame and carried a 2-0 lead into the third.
With just under 5 minutes to play in the third Kai Mackie
would block a Clarington point shot and score a breakaway goal to provide the
finishing touch on a great complete team win.
Jordy Andrews would record the shutout and Avery Thickson
was awarded the Devil of the Day pitchfork.
The team gets a weekend off next week to prepare for their
final 6 regular season games and upcoming playoffs.
