The Breakaway Fuels U10 Red Devils had a busy week picking
up 6 out of 8 points on the road.
The week started Wednesday night in Kingston against the Jr
Gaels. The young devils played a solid
40 minutes against a very hard working Kingston team. The final score ended up 3-0. Scoring for the Devils was Reid Haley (2) and
Greyson Rennie. Picking up assists were
Jackson Simpson, Mason Cooke, Kai Mackie and Haley. Jordan Andrews picked up the shutout in goal.
Saturday saw the boys head West to face the Clarington Toros
for the third time in 4 weekends. Once
again the kids came to play and outpaced the Toros on their way to a 4-1
win. Scoring for the Devils was Mackie
(2), Avery Thickson and Ethan Dowling.
Assists went to Jax Scott, Rennie and Dowling. Deacon Vos picked up the win in the pipes.
Sunday was a double header day for the Breakaway Boys. It started with a game at 12:30pm in Oshawa
against the Generals. This one was all
Quinte from the drop of the puck. They
scored 2 in the first, 6 in the second and another in the third for a final
score of 9-1. Goal scorers were Mackie
(4), Cooke, Dowling, Haley, Evan VanEgmond and Wade Robinson. Assists went to Silas Templar, Ryder Bradford,
Kolton Solmes (2), Mackie (2), Dowling, Simpson and Cooke.
The team then swung north to face the
Central Ontario Wolves in Lindsay for an evening game. Once again they came out flying and got a 2-0
lead in the first before Central would cut the lead in half with only 10s left
in the period. The Wolves scored quickly
in the second to even the score. It was
back and forth from then and penalty trouble would cost the young devils as
Central would score 4 powerplay goals on their way to a 5-4 win. Scoring for the Devils was Simpson (2),
Dowling and Mackie. The only assist
awarded was to Greyson Rennie.
Next weekend sees the U10 team
face Markham on Saturday in Marmora for sponsor appreciation day and then a
rematch with the Generals on Sunday in Warkworth for their last regular season
game of the year.
