Devils Put the Halt on Hurricanes
It was as dramatic as the first game of the round robin with the Devil's late goal playing the spoiler and causing both teams to split the spoils and take one point each. With this tie the Red Devils are leading their division with 3 out of a possible 4 after day one.
Pierce Nelson was in net for this one and helped his team stay even with the Hurricanes of Halton right to the end. Halton's top speed was a good match for the Devil's defensive sensibilities and the game was thrilling to say the least. With Halton scoring their three goals within an 8 minute spree in the second it was up to the Devils to try to close the gap for the rest of the game.
The Devil's first tally came from a Dawson Baker shot with Warren and Suzuki setting up the goal in the midst of the Halton three. The second goal, shorthanded, would be set up by defencemen Warren and Wheeler with Hunter Leonard finding back mesh. The tying goal which caused the bench and stands to erupt in unison was Baker's second this time with Dunkley collecting the helper. This final goal came with the extra attacker on the ice and a mere 0:32 on the clock!
The Devils close out their round robin with a tilly against Chatham-Kent from the Alliance Hockey League and one last game against the Missy Reps of the GTHL.
