QRD U18 Weekly Report Jan.9, 2023
The McInroy Maines QRD U18 team finished up 2022 with a single week game in the end of December and started the 2023 year with a busy on the road week in January.
The U18s closed out the 2022 year with a tough loss to the Ajax Pickering Raiders as they played host at QSWC on Dec. 22. The end of the first would see the Devils down by a single goal. Justin Murdoch scored in the first to make it a 2-1 game. The Raiders found the back of the Devils net in the second with 3 unanswered goals and while Quinte would go on to score again in the third with a shot from Ty McCambridge assisted by Deacon Ellis and Thomas Elkins, it wasn't enough to balance out the score. The Devils took the loss of 5-2. Net minding shared by McInnes and Spry.
The new year would have the team on the road for a midweek game in Markham. Tough battle and a close game but the Devils came up short with a 2-1 loss. Carter McKee, assisted by Beau Reade scored the lone goal for Quinte. Dean Spry was in net for the loss.
Game two of the week was in Aurora at St. Andrew's College to face the York Simcoe Express. The Devils would score an unanswered goal in each period of the game to take a 3-0 win. Scoring for the Devils was Liam Storms, Thomas Kuipers and Joey Coates. Assisting in the game was Rylan Reid, Trent Williams, Gage Butcher and McCambridge. Glen McInnes recorded the shut out in net.
Game three was a trip to Ajax to face the Raiders. This game it would be the Devils who would be left scoreless by the end of the game with a 0-4 loss. Spry who played a strong game between the pipes took the loss.
