End of Regular Season and Beginning of Playoffs for the Madison Excavating U12s
The Madison Excavating U12 Quinte Red Devils ended the regular season this week in fourth place within their division, with an 18-11-04 record.

Tuesday, February 20th, @ Whitby Wildcats

 

In the final game of the regular season for the Madison Excavating U12 Quinte Red Devils, the boys took to the road to face off against the Whitby Wildcats on Tuesday night. The Wildcats managed to strike late in the first period, opening the scoreboard. As the second period unfolded, Whitby capitalized on a powerplay opportunity, doubling their lead. The Devils fought back, scoring two powerplay goals of their own in the second period, evening the score at two each. The third period began explosively, with Quinte seizing the lead just twelve seconds in. Despite a tense standoff, they extended their lead to 4-2. With only forty-one seconds on the clock, Whitby rallied with a powerplay goal, narrowing the gap to 4-3. In the end, the Devils held on, clinching a hard-fought 4-3 victory.

 

Saturday, February 24th, vs. Markham Waxers

Saturday night, in a tightly contested battle on Quinte's home ice in Belleville, the Devils took on the Markham Waxers in their first playoff game. The opening period unfolded without either team finding the back of the net. In the second period, however, the deadlock was broken, as the Waxers capitalized on an opportunity to seize a one-goal lead. Undeterred, the Devils regrouped and entered the third period with a renewed sense of purpose. Just two minutes into the final frame, Quinte managed to even the score at one. With both teams battling hard, the tension mounted as the minutes ticked away. In a dramatic turn of events, the Waxers broke the stalemate, finding the back of the net once more to reclaim the lead. Despite a solid effort from the Devils, they were unable to find an equalizer, and the game ended in a 2-1 loss.

Sunday, February 25th, vs. Clarington Toros

Back on home ice in Madoc on Sunday afternoon, the U12 Devils clashed with the Clarington Toros in their second playoff game. The Devils wasted no time, striking first just two minutes and sixteen seconds into the first frame, setting the tone with an early lead. The Toros answered the call, netting an equalizer just over four minutes later. In the second period, neither team could break the deadlock, and the score remained tied at one. The Devils surged ahead in the final frame, briefly seizing the lead with a second goal. Yet, their advantage was short-lived as the Toros capitalized on a powerplay opportunity, knotting the score once more. Quinte quickly summoned their resolve, unleashing a decisive strike with just three and a half minutes remaining in the game, securing a 3-2 victory.
