Solid Weekend at OMHAs for the Madison Excavating U12s!
OMHA Championship Weekend Recap: March 22nd-24th

The Madison Excavating QRD U12s had an incredible finish to the 2023-2024 season, representing the East division at the OMHA Championships in Newmarket this past weekend. The team finished with a 1-1-1 record after round-robin play, securing their spot in the semi-final game on Sunday morning.

The OMHAs kicked off on the afternoon of Friday, March the 22nd, when QRD went head-to-head with the York-Simcoe Express, who are currently the 12th-ranked team in the province. The Devils showed resilience and grit, and the battle ended in a 1-1 tie. The following Saturday morning, the Devils faced off against the Southern Tier Admirals. The team played hard, but were unable to defeat the Admirals; the game concluding in a 5-4 loss. On Saturday evening, Quinte faced the 13th-ranked team in the province, the Niagara North Stars. QRD played a strong game and managed to shut the North Stars out with a 2-0 win. QRD had officially secured their spot in the semi-final game. Early Sunday morning, QRD brought their best to the semi-final game against the Barrie Junior Colts, the 8th-ranked team in the province, and two-time previous winners of the OMHAs. It was a hard-fought game, but unfortunately, Quinte came away with a 5-0 loss, eliminating them from the tournament. Nonetheless, making it to the final four was a phenomenal way for the U12 Quinte Red Devils to end their season.

Coach’s Corner with Head Coach, Evan Osterhout:

“The team once again showed that they never give up, in advancing to the OMHA final four. The coaches are very proud of the players for the work and determination put in this season. It has been a lot of fun along the way.”
