Playoffs Conclude for the Madison Excavating U12 Quinte Red Devils
Wednesday, March 13th, @ Clarington Toros

Week four of playoffs for the Madison Excavating U12 Quinte Red Devils kicked off in Darlington on Wednesday night, as the boys battled it out against the Clarington Toros for game eight.

QRD started the game off strong, netting two goals in the first period. Early in the second, the Toros managed to get on the scoreboard. Heading into the final period the score was standing at 2-1 in favour of Quinte, when the Toros launched a comeback. Clarington found the back of the net while on a powerplay just over a minute in to tie things up. They then managed to score two more quick goals, only twenty-one seconds apart. Unfortunately, the Devils were unable to score any additional goals, and the game ended in a 4-2 loss.

Saturday, March 16th, @ North Central Predators

For playoff game nine, the Devils were in Rama on Saturday afternoon for a do-or-die game against the North Central Predators. The first period was relatively quiet, up until two minutes before the end, when the Predators were first to get on the board with a powerplay goal. Less than a minute later, the Devils answered back with a goal of their own, ending the period with a 1-1 tie. The Devils were just getting warmed up; they managed to find the back of the net three times in the second period, the second of which was on a powerplay. With the score sitting at 4-1 for the Devils going into the third, the team knew they had to continue fighting. Only one goal was scored in the final frame, and while it came from the Predators, it was not enough to take the win from Quinte, who walked away with a 4-2 victory, keeping the possibility of moving on to OMHAs within their reach.

Sunday, March 17th, vs. Whitby Wildcats

In the final playoff game, the Devils were back on home ice in Madoc on Sunday afternoon, facing off against the Whitby Wildcats. The Wildcats took an early lead with a goal midway through the first period. Their momentum continued into the second period, netting two more goals. With a score of 3-0 heading into the third, the Devils fought back valiantly, managing to score two goals of their own. Despite their efforts, it wasn't enough to clinch victory, and the game concluded with a hard-fought 3-2 loss for Quinte.

Coach’s Corner with Head Coach, Evan Osterhout:

“The team has been on a wild ride for the last few days, moving with the peaks and valleys of playoff hockey. They have gained some valuable experience along the way, which will be beneficial for them moving forward.”

Next Up: It is uncertain at this time whether the U12 Quinte Red Devils will advance to OMHAs. Results are pending a final game being played by two other teams on Monday night.
