3/3 Playoff Wins for the Madison Excavating U12s This Week!
Wednesday, March 6th, @ Central Ontario Wolves

Week three of playoffs for the Madison Excavating U12 Quinte Red Devils began in Little Britain on Wednesday night, as the boys faced off against the Central Ontario Wolves for game five.

Just one minute and forty-seven seconds into the first period, the Wolves seized an early lead, setting the tone for an intense battle. Midway through the second, the Wolves managed to find the back of the net once again, off of a double deflection. Displaying resilience, the Devils mounted a comeback, responding with a goal of their own approximately three minutes after the Wolves' second score. Heading into the final period with the tally standing at 2-1 in favour of COW, the Devils launched a relentless comeback effort. Just two minutes and twelve seconds into the third period, Quinte tied the game up at two. With momentum in their favour, QRD continued to apply pressure, capitalizing on a powerplay opportunity to take a 3-2 lead. With three seconds left on the clock, the Devils added an insurance marker, scoring an empty-net goal and solidifying a 4-2 victory over the Wolves.

Saturday, March 9th, @ Whitby Wildcats

For playoff game six, the Devils found themselves in Whitby on Saturday afternoon for a tilt with the Wildcats. The game unfolded with a tense first period, during which neither team managed to find the back of the net. In the second period, it was the Wildcats who struck first, breaking the deadlock with the first goal of the game. The Devils quickly answered back, however, evening the score just four minutes later. In the final frame, Whitby capitalized on two powerplay opportunities, netting a pair of goals to take a 3-1 lead, putting QRD in a precarious position. The Devils rallied, scoring a crucial goal with just over eight minutes left on the clock, narrowing the gap and injecting a renewed sense of hope into the team. QRD thought they tied the game with forty seconds left, however, the ref waved it off due to a high stick. The team re-focused and continued to apply pressure, which paid off, as they netted a game-tying powerplay goal just twenty-six seconds before the final buzzer. Heading into overtime with the score tied at three, QRD continued their offensive push, which culminated in a game-winning goal just thirty-one seconds into the extra frame, sealing their remarkable 4-3 victory over the Wildcats.

Sunday, March 10th, vs. Central Ontario Wolves

In playoff game number seven, the Devils were back on home ice in Madoc on Sunday afternoon, facing off against the Central Ontario Wolves for the second time that week. The Devils were first to strike, capitalizing on a powerplay opportunity just four minutes and sixteen seconds into the first period. Despite numerous scoring opportunities and attempts from both sides, neither team managed to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game. As the final buzzer sounded, it was the Devils who emerged victorious, securing a 1-0 shutout win over the Wolves; QRD’s third consecutive win of the week.
