Gillespie's Tree Service QRD U14’s Weekly Report - April 22, 2024
The Gillespie’s Tree Service U14 Quinte Red Devils travelled to Kingston this past weekend to end their season at the U14 OHL Cup!
They were tested right away when they faced off against the Brantford 99ers. After a back and forth game the Devils won 3-2 starting the weekend off right. With a quick turnaround the Devils had to go up against the Hill Academy later that afternoon. After another close game the Devils came out on top 3-2 again, clinching a spot in the quarter finals with one more round robin game to play. The squad were back at the rink early Saturday morning to face off against the Ottawa Jr. 67s. This game didn’t bounce their way and they dropped the last round robin game 3-2.
Saturday afternoon the Devils were ready to go to battle against the Buffalo Jr. Sabres in the Quarter finals of the Cup. The Devils were all over them and came out with a hard fought 7-4 win which put them into the semi finals versus the Mississauga Sens.
On Sunday morning in the semi's the Devils gave it everything they had but fell short 3-2 in overtime to end the season. The team finished the season with their heads held high as a Top 4 team in the Province.
